“ For the Judeans have done what is evil in my sight.” This is the LORD’s declaration.“ They have set up their abhorrent things in the house that bears my name in order to defile it.

“‘ The people of Judah have done evil in my eyes, declares the Lord. They have set up their detestable idols in the house that bears my Name and have defiled it.

“ The people of Judah have done what is evil in my eyes,” announces the Lord.“ They have set up statues of their gods. They have worshiped them in the house where my Name is. They have made my house‘ unclean.’ I hate those statues.

“ For the sons of Judah have done evil in my sight, declares the Lord. They have set their detestable things in the house that is called by my name, to defile it.

“ The people of Judah have sinned before my very eyes,” says the Lord.“ They have set up their abominable idols right in the Temple that bears my name, defiling it.

For the sons of Judah have done that which is evil in My sight,” declares the Lord.“ They have put their detestable things in the house which is called by My name, to defile it.

For the children of Judah have done evil in My sight,” says the Lord.“ They have set their abominations in the house which is called by My name, to pollute it.

For the children of Judah have done that which is evil in my sight, saith Jehovah: they have set their abominations in the house which is called by my name, to defile it.

“ For the Judeans have done what is evil in My sight.” This is the Lord’s declaration.“ They have set up their detestable things in the house that is called by My name and defiled it.

The LORD says,“ I have rejected them because the people of Judah have done what I consider evil. They have set up their disgusting idols in the temple which I have claimed for my own and have defiled it.

“ For the children of Judah have done that which is evil in my sight,” says Yahweh.“ They have set their abominations in the house which is called by my name, to defile it.

They have placed their abhorrent things in the house that bears my name and have defiled it.

He appointed his beautiful ornaments for majesty, but they made their detestable images from them, their abhorrent things. Therefore, I have made these into something filthy to them.

He built altars in the LORD’s temple, where the LORD had said,“ Jerusalem is where my name will remain forever.”He built altars to all the stars in the sky in both courtyards of the LORD’s temple.

Manasseh set up the carved image of Asherah, which he made, in the temple that the LORD had spoken about to David and his son Solomon:“ I will establish my name forever in this temple and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel.

He built altars in the LORD’s temple, where the LORD had said,“ Jerusalem is where I will put my name.”

He will make a firm covenant with many for one week, but in the middle of the week he will put a stop to sacrifice and offering. And the abomination of desolation will be on a wing of the temple until the decreed destruction is poured out on the desolator.”

Manasseh set up a carved image of the idol, which he had made, in God’s temple that God had spoken about to David and his son Solomon:“ I will establish my name forever in this temple and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel.

The LORD said to me,“ Son of man, look toward the north.” I looked to the north, and there was this offensive statue north of the Altar Gate, at the entrance.He said to me,“ Son of man, do you see what they are doing here— more detestable acts that the house of Israel is committing— so that I must depart from my sanctuary? You will see even more detestable acts.”Then he brought me to the entrance of the court, and when I looked there was a hole in the wall.He said to me,“ Son of man, dig through the wall.” So I dug through the wall and discovered a doorway.He said to me,“ Go in and see the detestable, wicked acts they are committing here.”I went in and looked, and there engraved all around the wall was every kind of abhorrent thing— crawling creatures and beasts— as well as all the idols of the house of Israel.Seventy elders from the house of Israel were standing before them, with Jaazaniah son of Shaphan standing among them. Each had a firepan in his hand, and a fragrant cloud of incense was rising up.He said to me,“ Son of man, do you see what the elders of the house of Israel are doing in the darkness, each at the shrine of his idol? For they are saying,‘ The LORD does not see us. The LORD has abandoned the land.’”Again he said to me,“ You will see even more detestable acts that they are committing.”Then he brought me to the entrance of the north gate of the LORD’s house, and I saw women sitting there weeping for Tammuz.And he said to me,“ Do you see this, son of man? You will see even more detestable acts than these.”So he brought me to the inner court of the LORD’s house, and there were about twenty-five men at the entrance of the LORD’s temple, between the portico and the altar, with their backs to the LORD’s temple and their faces turned to the east. They were bowing to the east in worship of the sun.And he said to me,“ Do you see this, son of man? Is it not enough for the house of Judah to commit the detestable acts they are doing here, that they must also fill the land with violence and repeatedly anger me, even putting the branch to their nose?

because both prophet and priest are ungodly, even in my house I have found their evil. This is the LORD’s declaration.

Then the king commanded the high priest Hilkiah and the priests of the second rank and the doorkeepers to bring out of the LORD’s sanctuary all the articles made for Baal, Asherah, and all the stars in the sky. He burned them outside Jerusalem in the fields of the Kidron and carried their ashes to Bethel.Then he did away with the idolatrous priests the kings of Judah had appointed to burn incense at the high places in the cities of Judah and in the areas surrounding Jerusalem. They had burned incense to Baal, and to the sun, moon, constellations, and all the stars in the sky.He brought out the Asherah pole from the LORD’s temple to the Kidron Valley outside Jerusalem. He burned it at the Kidron Valley, beat it to dust, and threw its dust on the graves of the common people.

He said to me,“ Son of man, this is the place of my throne and the place for the soles of my feet, where I will dwell among the Israelites forever. The house of Israel and their kings will no longer defile my holy name by their religious prostitution and by the corpses of their kings at their high places.Whenever they placed their threshold next to my threshold and their doorposts beside my doorposts, with only a wall between me and them, they were defiling my holy name by the detestable acts they committed. So I destroyed them in my anger.

He removed the foreign gods and the idol from the LORD’s temple, along with all the altars that he had built on the mountain of the LORD’s temple and in Jerusalem, and he threw them outside the city.

The king tore down the altars that the kings of Judah had made on the roof of Ahaz’s upper chamber. He also tore down the altars that Manasseh had made in the two courtyards of the LORD’s temple. Then he smashed them there and threw their dust into the Kidron Valley.
