From the time your ancestors departed the land of Egypt until now, I sent my servants the prophets to you again and again, day after day.

From the time your ancestors left Egypt until now, day after day, again and again I sent you my servants the prophets.

Again and again I sent my servants the prophets to you. They came to you day after day. They prophesied from the time your people left Egypt until now.

From the day that your fathers came out of the land of Egypt to this day, I have persistently sent all my servants the prophets to them, day after day.

From the day your ancestors left Egypt until now, I have continued to send my servants, the prophets— day in and day out.

Since the day your ancestors came out of the land of Egypt until today, I have sent all my servants the prophets to you time and time again.

Since the day that your fathers came out of the land of Egypt until this day, I have sent you all My servants the prophets, sending them daily, again and again.

Since the day that your fathers came out of the land of Egypt until this day, I have even sent to you all My servants the prophets, daily rising up early and sending them.

Since the day that your fathers came forth out of the land of Egypt unto this day, I have sent unto you all my servants the prophets, daily rising up early and sending them:

Since the day your ancestors came out of the land of Egypt until this day, I have sent all My servants the prophets to you time and time again.

Since the day that your fathers came forth out of the land of Egypt unto this day I have even sent unto you all my servants the prophets, daily rising up early and sending[ them]:

Since the day that your fathers came out of the land of Egypt to this day, I have sent to you all my servants the prophets, daily rising up early and sending them.

The LORD God of their ancestors continually warned them through his messengers, for he felt compassion for his people and his dwelling place.

Over and over again the LORD has sent his servants the prophets to you. But you have not listened or paid attention.

You prolonged your kindness with them for many years, and you solemnly admonished them by your Spirit through your prophets. Still they paid no attention, so you delivered them into the hands of the neighboring peoples.

“ But they– our ancestors– behaved presumptuously; they rebelled and did not obey your commandments.They refused to obey and did not recall your miracles that you had performed among them. Instead, they rebelled and appointed a leader to return to their bondage in Egypt. But you are a God of forgiveness, merciful and compassionate, slow to get angry and unfailing in your loyal love. You did not abandon them,even when they made a cast image of a calf for themselves and said,‘ This is your God who brought you up from Egypt,’ or when they committed atrocious blasphemies.

Remember– don’t ever forget– how you provoked the LORD your God in the desert; from the time you left the land of Egypt until you came to this place you were constantly rebelling against him.

He said to me,“ Son of man, I am sending you to the house of Israel, to rebellious nations who have rebelled against me; both they and their fathers have revolted against me to this very day.

This will happen because the people of Israel and Judah have repeatedly done what displeases me from their earliest history until now and because they have repeatedly made me angry by the things they have done. I, the LORD, affirm it!This will happen because the people of this city have aroused my anger and my wrath since the time they built it until now. They have made me so angry that I am determined to remove it from my sight.

As for your sinful thing that you had made, the calf, I took it, melted it down, ground it up until it was as fine as dust, and tossed the dust into the stream that flows down the mountain.Moreover, you continued to provoke the LORD at Taberah, Massah, and Kibroth-Hattaavah.And when he sent you from Kadesh-Barnea and told you,“ Go up and possess the land I have given you,” you rebelled against the LORD your God and would neither believe nor obey him.You have been rebelling against him from the very first day I knew you!

They quickly forgot what he had done; they did not wait for his instructions.In the wilderness they had an insatiable craving for meat; they challenged God in the desert.He granted their request, then struck them with a disease.In the camp they resented Moses, and Aaron, the LORD’s holy priest.The earth opened up and swallowed Dathan; it engulfed the group led by Abiram.Fire burned their group; the flames scorched the wicked.They made an image of a calf at Horeb, and worshiped a metal idol.They traded their majestic God for the image of an ox that eats grass.They rejected the God who delivered them, the one who performed great deeds in Egypt,amazing feats in the land of Ham, mighty acts by the Red Sea.

When the harvest time was near, he sent his slaves to the tenants to collect his portion of the crop.But the tenants seized his slaves, beat one, killed another, and stoned another.Again he sent other slaves, more than the first, and they treated them the same way.

When harvest time came, he sent a slave to the tenants so that they would give him his portion of the crop. However, the tenants beat his slave and sent him away empty- handed.So he sent another slave. They beat this one too, treated him outrageously, and sent him away empty- handed.So he sent still a third. They even wounded this one, and threw him out.

The LORD said to Samuel,“ Do everything the people request of you. For it is not you that they have rejected, but it is me that they have rejected as their king.Just as they have done from the day that I brought them up from Egypt until this very day, they have rejected me and have served other gods. This is what they are also doing to you.

and say to them:“‘ This is what the sovereign LORD says: On the day I chose Israel I swore to the descendants of the house of Jacob and made myself known to them in the land of Egypt. I swore to them,“ I am the LORD your God.”On that day I swore to bring them out of the land of Egypt to a land which I had picked out for them, a land flowing with milk and honey, the most beautiful of all lands.I said to them,“ Each of you must get rid of the detestable idols you keep before you, and do not defile yourselves with the idols of Egypt; I am the LORD your God.”But they rebelled against me, and refused to listen to me; no one got rid of their detestable idols, nor did they abandon the idols of Egypt. Then I decided to pour out my rage on them and fully vent my anger against them in the midst of the land of Egypt.I acted for the sake of my reputation, so that I would not be profaned before the nations among whom they lived, before whom I revealed myself by bringing them out of the land of Egypt.“‘ So I brought them out of the land of Egypt and led them to the wilderness.I gave them my statutes and revealed my regulations to them. The one who carries them out will live by them!I also gave them my Sabbaths as a reminder of our relationship, so that they would know that I, the LORD, sanctify them.But the house of Israel rebelled against me in the wilderness; they did not follow my statutes and they rejected my regulations( the one who obeys them will live by them), and they utterly desecrated my Sabbaths. So I decided to pour out my rage on them in the wilderness and destroy them.I acted for the sake of my reputation, so that I would not be profaned before the nations in whose sight I had brought them out.I also swore to them in the wilderness that I would not bring them to the land I had given them– a land flowing with milk and honey, the most beautiful of all lands.I did this because they rejected my regulations, did not follow my statutes, and desecrated my Sabbaths; for their hearts followed their idols.Yet I had pity on them and did not destroy them, so I did not make an end of them in the wilderness.“‘ But I said to their children in the wilderness,“ Do not follow the practices of your fathers; do not observe their regulations, nor defile yourselves with their idols.I am the LORD your God; follow my statutes, observe my regulations, and carry them out.Treat my Sabbaths as holy and they will be a reminder of our relationship, and then you will know that I am the LORD your God.”“‘ But the children rebelled against me, did not follow my statutes, did not observe my regulations by carrying them out( the one who obeys them will live by them), and desecrated my Sabbaths. I decided to pour out my rage on them and fully vent my anger against them in the wilderness.But I refrained from doing so, and acted instead for the sake of my reputation, so that I would not be profaned before the nations in whose sight I had brought them out.I also swore to them in the wilderness that I would scatter them among the nations and disperse them throughout the lands.I did this because they did not observe my regulations, they rejected my statutes, they desecrated my Sabbaths, and their eyes were fixed on their fathers’ idols.I also gave them decrees which were not good and regulations by which they could not live.I declared them to be defiled because of their sacrifices– they caused all their first born to pass through the fire– so that I would devastate them, so that they will know that I am the LORD.’“ Therefore, speak to the house of Israel, son of man, and tell them,‘ This is what the sovereign LORD says: In this way too your fathers blasphemed me when they were unfaithful to me.I brought them to the land which I swore to give them, but whenever they saw any high hill or leafy tree, they offered their sacrifices there and presented the offerings that provoke me to anger. They offered their soothing aroma there and poured out their drink offerings.So I said to them, What is this high place you go to?’”( So it is called“ High Place” to this day.)“ Therefore say to the house of Israel,‘ This is what the sovereign LORD says: Will you defile yourselves like your fathers and engage in prostitution with detestable idols?When you present your sacrifices– when you make your sons pass through the fire– you defile yourselves with all your idols to this very day. Will I allow you to seek me, O house of Israel? As surely as I live, declares the sovereign LORD, I will not allow you to seek me!“‘ What you plan will never happen. You say,“ We will be like the nations, like the clans of the lands, who serve gods of wood and stone.”

“ Son of man, there were two women who were daughters of the same mother.They engaged in prostitution in Egypt; in their youth they engaged in prostitution. Their breasts were squeezed there; lovers fondled their virgin nipples there.

“ Nonetheless they grew disobedient and rebelled against you; they disregarded your law. They killed your prophets who had solemnly admonished them in order to cause them to return to you. They committed atrocious blasphemies.

You also have done all these things, says the LORD, and I have spoken to you over and over again. But you have not listened! You have refused to respond when I called you to repent!

From the days of our fathers until this very day our guilt has been great. Because of our iniquities we, along with our kings and priests, have been delivered over by the local kings to sword, captivity, plunder, and embarrassment– right up to the present time.
