祂離棄了設在示羅的聖幕，就是祂在人間的居所。祂任憑自己的約櫃被人擄去，讓自己的榮耀落在敵人手中。祂使自己的子民被刀劍殺戮，向自己的產業大發怒氣。青年被烈火吞噬，少女無法婚嫁。祭司喪身刀下，寡婦無法哭喪。

軍隊回營後，以色列的長老說：「為什麼今天耶和華使我們敗在非利士人手下？我們從示羅把耶和華的約櫃抬來吧，讓它與我們同去，好從仇敵手中救我們。」於是，他們派人去示羅把那坐在基路伯天使上的萬軍之耶和華的約櫃抬來。以利的兩個兒子何弗尼和非尼哈也隨上帝的約櫃同來。

你們要把我吩咐你們獻的燔祭、各種牲祭、十一奉獻、舉祭和一切還願祭帶到你們的上帝耶和華選定的敬拜場所。

以利加拿每年都從家鄉到示羅去敬拜萬軍之耶和華，獻上祭物。當時以利的兩個兒子何弗尼和非尼哈在那裡做耶和華的祭司。

你們的上帝耶和華要在你們眾支派中選一個地方作祂的居所，你們要去那裡敬拜祂，
