西底家作王第九年十月十日，巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒率領他的全軍來攻打耶路撒冷；他們在城外安營，又在四圍築壘攻城。於是，城被圍困，直到西底家王第十一年。四月九日，城裡饑荒非常嚴重，甚至那地的人民都斷了糧食。城終於被攻破了，所有的戰士就在夜間從靠近王的花園的兩牆中間的那門，逃跑出城。那時迦勒底人在四圍攻城；他們就往亞拉巴的方向逃走。

“要向列國提說，向耶路撒冷宣揚：‘圍攻的人從遠地而來，向猶大的各城鎮大聲吶喊。他們四面包圍耶路撒冷，好像看守田地的人一樣，因為耶路撒冷背叛了我。’”這是耶和華的宣告。

耶和華差派迦勒底的軍隊、亞蘭的軍隊、摩押的軍隊和亞捫人的軍隊攻打他，他差他們攻擊猶大，毀滅它，就像耶和華藉著他的僕人眾先知預言的話。

亞述王啊！你的牧人睡覺，你的貴族安歇，你的子民分散在各山上，沒有人招聚他們。

猶大王西底家第九年十月，巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒率領他的全軍來攻擊耶路撒冷，把城圍困起來。西底家第十一年四月九日，城被攻破。巴比倫王所有的將領：尼甲．沙利薛、三甲．尼波、大臣（“大臣”的本意不明確）撒西金、術士長（“術士長”的本意不明確）尼甲．沙利薛，以及巴比倫王所有其餘的將領，都進城，坐在中門。

那時，巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒的臣僕來到耶路撒冷，城就被圍困。尼布甲尼撒的臣僕正在圍城的時候，巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒親自來到耶路撒冷。猶大王約雅斤和他的母親、眾臣僕、眾領袖，以及眾太監，出城投降巴比倫王。巴比倫王於是捉住他。那時，是巴比倫王在位第八年。
