Do not go out to the fields or walk on the roads, for the enemy has a sword, and there is terror on every side.

And it happened on the next day that Pashhur brought Jeremiah out of the stocks. Then Jeremiah said to him,“ The Lord has not called your name Pashhur, but Magor-Missabib.For thus says the Lord:‘ Behold, I will make you a terror to yourself and to all your friends; and they shall fall by the sword of their enemies, and your eyes shall see it. I will give all Judah into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall carry them captive to Babylon and slay them with the sword.

“ In the days of Shamgar, son of Anath, In the days of Jael, The highways were deserted, And the travelers walked along the byways.Village life ceased, it ceased in Israel, Until I, Deborah, arose, Arose a mother in Israel.

Then I said,“ Ah, Lord GOD! Surely You have greatly deceived this people and Jerusalem, Saying,‘ You shall have peace,’ Whereas the sword reaches to the heart.”

And in those times there was no peace to the one who went out, nor to the one who came in, but great turmoil was on all the inhabitants of the lands.

For days will come upon you when your enemies will build an embankment around you, surround you and close you in on every side,

But if you refuse and rebel, You shall be devoured by the sword”; For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.
