「因此，主耶和華對阿荷利巴這樣說，『我要使那些被你離棄的情人從四面八方來攻擊你。他們是巴比倫人，還有從比割、書亞和哥亞來的迦勒底人以及亞述人，都是騎馬的省長和總督及年輕英俊的有名將領。他們率領大隊人馬，帶著兵器、戰車和軍需車來攻擊你。他們頂盔貫甲，手拿盾牌從四面八方進攻你。我要讓他們懲罰你，他們會按自己的律例來審判你。我要藉著他們向你傾倒我的義憤，他們要在憤怒中對付你，割去你的鼻子和耳朵，擄去你的兒女，城中剩下的人都要死於刀下，被火吞噬。

各城的人聽到騎兵和弓箭手的呐喊，都紛紛逃命。有的跑入叢林，有的爬進岩洞。各城荒棄，無人居住。

「日月星辰必顯出異兆，怒海洶湧、波濤翻騰，令各國驚恐不安。天體必震動，人類想到世界要面臨的事都嚇得魂不附體。

我要使兇殘、暴虐的迦勒底人興起。他們要席捲天下，強佔別人的家園。他們任意妄為，令人膽戰心驚。「他們的馬比豹子還快，比夜狼還猛。他們的騎兵從遠方飛馳而來，如鷹撲食。他們殘暴成性，像狂風一樣撲來，抓獲的俘虜多如塵沙。他們嘲笑君王，譏諷首領，對一切堅城嗤之以鼻，修築高臺將其攻取。

他們都是勇士，他們的弓箭殺人無數。

我必將埃及人交給一位殘忍的主人，一位暴君必統治他們。」這是主——萬軍之耶和華說的。
