This is what the LORD of Armies says: Babylon’s thick walls will be totally demolished, and her high gates set ablaze. The peoples will have labored for nothing; the nations will weary themselves only to feed the fire.

“万军之耶和华如此说：巴比伦宽阔的城墙必全然倾倒；他高大的城门必被火焚烧。众民所劳碌的必致虚空；列国所劳碌的被火焚烧，他们都必困乏。”

万军之耶和华如此说：巴比伦宽阔的城墙要夷为平地，它高大的城门必被火焚烧。万民所劳碌的必致虚空，万族所劳碌的被火焚烧，他们都必困乏。

万军之耶和华这样说：“巴比伦宽阔的城墙必被夷为平地，它高大的城门必被焚烧；万民所劳碌的都必成空，万族所辛劳的都付诸一炬。”

萬軍之耶和華如此說：巴比倫寬闊的城牆必全然傾倒；她高大的城門必被火焚燒。眾民所勞碌的必致虛空；列國所勞碌的被火焚燒，他們都必困乏。

『萬軍之永恆主這麼說：巴比倫寬闊的城牆必毁為平地，她高拱的城門必被火燒。外族之民所勞碌的都必落空，列國之民都必為了被火燒而疲乏。』

萬軍之耶和華曰、巴比倫寬廣之城垣、必盡傾覆、其高門必焚於火、諸民勞力歸於虛、列邦經營乃為火、俱必困乏、○

萬有之主耶和華又曰、巴比倫城垣雖廣必毀、邑門雖高必焚、昔役列邦之民、竭力築此、後必盡燬、歸於烏有。

萬有之主如是云、巴比倫廣闊之城垣、必將拆毀、其諸高門、必被火焚、列民勤勞、悉屬徒然、列國經營以致困憊、所經營者終被火焚燬、○

This is what the Lord Almighty says:“ Babylon’s thick wall will be leveled and her high gates set on fire; the peoples exhaust themselves for nothing, the nations’ labor is only fuel for the flames.”

The Lord who rules over all says,“ Babylon’s thick walls will fall down flat. Its high gates will be set on fire. The nations wear themselves out for no reason at all. Their hard work will only be burned up in the flames.”

“ Thus says the Lord of hosts: The broad wall of Babylon shall be leveled to the ground, and her high gates shall be burned with fire. The peoples labor for nothing, and the nations weary themselves only for fire.”

This is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies says:“ The thick walls of Babylon will be leveled to the ground, and her massive gates will be burned. The builders from many lands have worked in vain, for their work will be destroyed by fire!”

This is what the Lord of armies says:“ The broad wall of Babylon will be completely demolished, And her high gates will be set on fire; So the peoples will labor for nothing, And the nations become exhausted only for fire.”

Thus says the Lord of hosts:“ The broad walls of Babylon shall be utterly broken, And her high gates shall be burned with fire; The people will labor in vain, And the nations, because of the fire; And they shall be weary.”

Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: The broad walls of Babylon shall be utterly overthrown, and her high gates shall be burned with fire; and the peoples shall labor for vanity, and the nations for the fire; and they shall be weary.

This is what Yahweh of Hosts says: Babylon’s thick walls will be totally demolished, and her high gates consumed by fire. The peoples will have labored for nothing; the nations will exhaust themselves only to feed the fire.

Thus saith the LORD of hosts; The broad walls of Babylon shall be utterly broken, and her high gates shall be burned with fire; and the people shall labour in vain, and the folk in the fire, and they shall be weary.

This is what the LORD who rules over all says,“ Babylon’s thick wall will be completely demolished. Her high gates will be set on fire. The peoples strive for what does not satisfy. The nations grow weary trying to get what will be destroyed.”

Yahweh of Armies says:“ The wide walls of Babylon will be utterly overthrown. Her high gates will be burned with fire. The peoples will labor for vanity, and the nations for the fire; and they will be weary.”

Then say,‘ In the same way, Babylon will sink and never rise again because of the disaster I am bringing on her. They will grow weary.’” The words of Jeremiah end here.

Is it not from the LORD of Armies that the peoples labor only to fuel the fire and countries exhaust themselves for nothing?

Raise a war cry against her on every side! She has thrown up her hands in surrender; her defense towers have fallen; her walls are demolished. Since this is the LORD’s vengeance, take your vengeance on her; as she has done, do the same to her.

I will punish Bel in Babylon. I will make him vomit what he swallowed. The nations will no longer stream to him; even Babylon’s wall will fall.

The LORD says this to Cyrus, his anointed, whose right hand I have grasped to subdue nations before him and disarm kings, to open doors before him, and even city gates will not be shut:“ I will go before you and level the uneven places; I will shatter the bronze doors and cut the iron bars in two.

We tried to heal Babylon, but she could not be healed. Abandon her! Let each of us go to his own land, for her judgment extends to the sky and reaches as far as the clouds.

Unless the LORD builds a house, its builders labor over it in vain; unless the LORD watches over a city, the watchman stays alert in vain.

Babylon’s warriors have stopped fighting; they sit in their strongholds. Their might is exhausted; they have become like women. Babylon’s homes have been set ablaze, her gate bars are shattered.

They will not labor without success or bear children destined for disaster, for they will be a people blessed by the LORD along with their descendants.
