Psalm 127
The Blessing of the Lord
A song of ascents. Of Solomon.
1Unless the Lord builds a house,
its builders labor over it in vain;127:1 Ps 78:69
unless the Lord watches over a city,
the watchman stays alert in vain.127:1 Ps 121:4
2In vain you get up early and stay up late,
working hard to have enough food —
yes, he gives sleep to the one he loves.127:2 Or yes, he gives such things to his loved ones while they sleep127:2 Ps 3:5; 4:8; Pr 3:24

3Sons are indeed a heritage from the Lord,
offspring, a reward.127:3 Dt 7:13; Ps 113:9
4Like arrows in the hand of a warrior
are the sons born in one’s youth.127:4 Ps 120:4
5Happy is the man who has filled his quiver with them.127:5 Ps 128:2–3
They will never be put to shame
when they speak with their enemies at the city gate.127:5 Jl 2:26–27
