A nation from the north will attack her and lay waste her land. No one will live in it; both people and animals will flee away.

A nation from the north will attack it. That nation will destroy Babylon. No one will live there. People and animals alike will run away.

“ For out of the north a nation has come up against her, which shall make her land a desolation, and none shall dwell in it; both man and beast shall flee away.

今耶和華震怒、欲滅巴比倫、為其殿宇雪忿、故慫慂米太王、以攻爾邑、爾雖礪鏃執盾、邑垣建旆、戍樓鞏固、命戍稽察、設伏防禦、終歸無益、蓋我耶和華昔言降災巴比倫、今已有應。

主使米太人擊爾、雖饋以金銀、彼不納焉、以弓撻少壯、不恤孩提、不憫孕字。昔巴比倫富甲萬邦、為迦勒底人所尊、厥後必為上帝所敗、若所多馬蛾摩拉然。自茲以後、代無居人、亞喇伯人不張其幕、牧者不使羊憩息、其境為野獸所藏伏、其室為鴟鴞所棲止、雌鴕鳥居處於斯、魑魅踴躍於斯。暴獸嗥於深宮、野犬遊於華殿、其時將屆、其日伊邇。

今巴比倫抱愧、大邑含羞、其地終為邱墟、有若沙漠。因我耶和華震怒、巴比倫傾圮、變為荒蕪、無人居處、凡過之者、見其災害、必駭異而作怨聲。

今巴比倫傾頽崩毀、為之舉哀、求乳香以醫厥疾。我儕欲醫巴比倫而不得、其禍滔天、上沖霄漢、我今去之、各歸故土。

我耶和華是夜將遍行通國、擊埃及人長子、與畜首生者、凡埃及人之上帝我必敗之。

耶和華曰、災降於迦勒底、巴比倫、及其牧伯哲士。災降於卜筮之輩、使之愚蠢、悍勇之卒、使之怯懦。災降於車馬、以及異族、使之喪膽、無異婦女。災降於貨財、被人刧掠。災降於江湖、使之立涸、斯土之人、服事偶像、舉國若狂。故暴獸野犬、雌雄鴕鳥、必巢其中、無人居處、歷代若此。耶和華曰、昔所多馬蛾摩拉、及其鄰邑、為我上帝所傾圮、無人居處、斯邑亦必若是。大邦之邑、來自北方、列王勃興、至自地極、

耶和華曰、敵人至自北方、攻巴比倫、天地萬物、謳歌不已。

萬有之主耶和華曰、我將勃然而興、滅巴比倫遺民、塗抹其名、延及王之宗室、淪胥以亡、掃除巴比倫之邑、變為水澤、蝟集其處。萬有之主耶和華矢之曰、我意已定、我命必成、

耶和華曰、將以我所造之人、翦滅於地、以及牲畜、昆蟲、飛鳥、然此雖由我作、我則悔焉。

有能天使舉大石如磨、投於海、曰、巴比倫大邑、當猝然傾圮、不復得見、有如此石、鼓琴作樂、品簫吹角之音、不復聞於爾間、百工不復居於爾間、磨聲不再聞於爾間、燈光不復照於爾間、新娶者、與新婦之語、不復聞於爾間、爾商旅乃世上大夫、萬國以爾巫術迷惑、

耶和華赫然震怒、爰整其旅、以滅斯土、來自遠方、至從地極。耶和華為全能之主、降以大災、殲滅斯邦、其日伊邇、爾當號泣不已。爾手疲膽喪、戰慄觳觫、艱難勞苦、如婦將產、彼此相對而咨嗟、容色維頳、若炙以火。耶和華勃然震怒、其日伊邇、其勢甚烈、若火之燃、翦滅國家、掃除群醜、星辰不顯其光、日變晦冥、月隱焜耀、

使巴比倫邑、變為瓦礫、野犬穴之、無人居處、為眾駭異、時聞怨聲。耶和華曰、巴比倫人、號呼若稚獅、彼中心如焚、飲酒酩酊、欲取淫樂、或至長眠、永不得醒、我使之然。

耶和華曰、爾巴比倫邑若山、天下黎庶、遭爾淪喪、我將舉手攻爾、推爾磛巖、焚爾峰巔、無石可為屋隅基址、使爾荒蕪、歷代若是。當舉旌旆於斯土、吹角於民間、使列邦攻之、會集亞喇臘、米尼、亞實基拿人、立武夫長、使驍騎咸至、若蝗眾多。

斯邑之民人牲畜、必降瘟疫、以擊之、俾其死亡。

主耶和華曰、我必降災、斯邦之民、以及野獸、林木、田土所產、我怒甚烈、靡人遏止。
