隨後，一位強有力的天使拿起一塊像大磨石那樣的石頭，把它丟進海裡，說：「大巴比倫城也將這樣被猛烈地扔下去，絕不會再找到了！彈琴的、奏樂的、吹笛的、吹號之人的聲音，在你中間絕不會再聽到了！各種手藝的工匠，在你中間絕不會再找到了！磨石的聲音，在你中間絕不會再聽到了！燈的亮光，在你中間絕不會再照耀了！新郎和新娘的聲音，在你中間絕不會再聽到了！因為你的商人一向是地上的大人物，又因為萬國都被你的邪術所迷惑，

他們從遙遠之地、從天邊而來——耶和華和他憤怒的器皿正來毀滅全地。哀號吧！因為耶和華的日子近了；這日子來到，像毀滅從全能者來到那樣。因此，人人必雙手發軟，個個都心融膽喪。他們必惶恐，劇痛和痛苦抓住他們；他們必疼痛，像臨產的婦女那樣。他們彼此驚奇對望，面色如火焰。看哪！耶和華的日子將要來到，是殘忍的，帶著盛怒和猛烈的怒氣，為要使這地成為廢墟，為要除滅其中的罪人。天上的星辰和眾星座都不發光；太陽出來時就是黑的，月亮也不放光。
