願稱讚神的話常在他們口中；願他們手裡拿著兩刃的劍，為要報復列國，懲罰萬民；用鎖鍊捆住他們的君王，用鐵鐐鎖住他們的權貴，要在他們身上施行記錄在冊上的審判。這就是他所有聖民的尊榮。你們要讚美耶和華。

他把自己的住所破壞，好像園子一樣；他毀壞了屬他的聚會之處。耶和華使節期和安息日都在錫安被忘記；他在他的盛怒中棄絕了君王和祭司。主丟棄了自己的祭壇，厭棄了自己的聖所。他把宮殿的圍牆，交付在仇敵的手裡；他們在耶和華的殿中喧嚷，好像慶祝節日一樣。

於是人把從耶路撒冷聖殿裡，就是神的殿裡，掠來的金器皿拿來；王和他的大臣、妻妾、妃嬪就用這些器皿來喝酒。他們喝酒，讚美那些用金、銀、銅、鐵、木、石所做的神。當時，忽然有人手的指頭出現，在王宮裡燈臺對面的粉牆上寫字；王看見了那隻正在寫字的手掌，

那些已逃脫了刀劍的人哪！走吧！不要站著，要從遠方記念耶和華，心中惦念耶路撒冷。我們因聽見辱罵而蒙羞，滿面慚愧；因為外族人進入了耶和華殿的聖所。

“看哪！我要使耶路撒冷成為令周圍萬族喝醉的杯；耶路撒冷被圍困的時候，猶大也必受到攻擊。到那日，我要使耶路撒冷對萬族來說像一塊沉重的石頭，舉起它的必受重傷；地上的列國必聚集起來攻擊耶路撒冷。
