“ Attack the land of Merathaim and those who live in Pekod. Pursue, kill and completely destroy them,” declares the Lord.“ Do everything I have commanded you.

“ Enemies of Babylon, attack their land of Merathaim. Make war against those who live in Pekod. Chase them and kill them. Destroy them completely,” announces the Lord.“ Do everything I have commanded you to do.

“ Go up against the land of Merathaim, and against the inhabitants of Pekod. Kill, and devote them to destruction, declares the Lord, and do all that I have commanded you.

“ Go up, my warriors, against the land of Merathaim and against the people of Pekod. Pursue, kill, and completely destroy them, as I have commanded you,” says the Lord.

Attack the land of Merathaim, and those living in Pekod. Put them to the sword; completely destroy them— this is the LORD’s declaration— do everything I have commanded you.

“ Against the land of Merathaim, go up against it, And against the inhabitants of Pekod. Kill and completely destroy them,” declares the Lord,“ And do according to everything that I have commanded you.

“ Go against the land of Merathaim, and against those living in Pekod. Put them to the sword; completely destroy them— this is the Lord’s declaration— do everything I have commanded you.

Go up against the land of Merathaim,[ even] against it, and against the inhabitants of Pekod: waste and utterly destroy after them, saith the LORD, and do according to all that I have commanded thee.

The LORD says,“ Attack the land of Merathaim and the people who live in Pekod! Pursue, kill, and completely destroy them! Do just as I have commanded you!

“ Go up against the land of Merathaim, even against it, and against the inhabitants of Pekod. Kill and utterly destroy after them,” says Yahweh,“ and do according to all that I have commanded you.

The Babylonians, All the Chaldeans, Pekod, Shoa, Koa, All the Assyrians with them, All of them desirable young men, Governors and rulers, Captains and men of renown, All of them riding on horses.

Now go and attack Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and do not spare them. But kill both man and woman, infant and nursing child, ox and sheep, camel and donkey.’”

For out of the north a nation comes up against her, Which shall make her land desolate, And no one shall dwell therein. They shall move, they shall depart, Both man and beast.

For behold, I will raise and cause to come up against Babylon An assembly of great nations from the north country, And they shall array themselves against her; From there she shall be captured. Their arrows shall be like those of an expert warrior; None shall return in vain.

Behold, I will command,’ says the Lord,‘ and cause them to return to this city. They will fight against it and take it and burn it with fire; and I will make the cities of Judah a desolation without inhabitant.’”

Who says of Cyrus,‘ He is My shepherd, And he shall perform all My pleasure, Saying to Jerusalem,“ You shall be built,” And to the temple,“ Your foundation shall be laid.”’

And David said to Abishai and all his servants,“ See how my son who came from my own body seeks my life. How much more now may this Benjamite? Let him alone, and let him curse; for so the Lord has ordered him.

Shout against her all around; She has given her hand, Her foundations have fallen, Her walls are thrown down; For it is the vengeance of the Lord. Take vengeance on her. As she has done, so do to her.

“ I greatly regret that I have set up Saul as king, for he has turned back from following Me, and has not performed My commandments.” And it grieved Samuel, and he cried out to the Lord all night.So when Samuel rose early in the morning to meet Saul, it was told Samuel, saying,“ Saul went to Carmel, and indeed, he set up a monument for himself; and he has gone on around, passed by, and gone down to Gilgal.”Then Samuel went to Saul, and Saul said to him,“ Blessed are you of the Lord! I have performed the commandment of the Lord.”But Samuel said,“ What then is this bleating of the sheep in my ears, and the lowing of the oxen which I hear?”And Saul said,“ They have brought them from the Amalekites; for the people spared the best of the sheep and the oxen, to sacrifice to the Lord your God; and the rest we have utterly destroyed.”Then Samuel said to Saul,“ Be quiet! And I will tell you what the Lord said to me last night.” And he said to him,“ Speak on.”So Samuel said,“ When you were little in your own eyes, were you not head of the tribes of Israel? And did not the Lord anoint you king over Israel?Now the Lord sent you on a mission, and said,‘ Go, and utterly destroy the sinners, the Amalekites, and fight against them until they are consumed.’Why then did you not obey the voice of the Lord? Why did you swoop down on the spoil, and do evil in the sight of the Lord?”And Saul said to Samuel,“ But I have obeyed the voice of the Lord, and gone on the mission on which the Lord sent me, and brought back Agag king of Amalek; I have utterly destroyed the Amalekites.But the people took of the plunder, sheep and oxen, the best of the things which should have been utterly destroyed, to sacrifice to the Lord your God in Gilgal.”So Samuel said:“ Has the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, As in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, And to heed than the fat of rams.For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, And stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the Lord, He also has rejected you from being king.”Then Saul said to Samuel,“ I have sinned, for I have transgressed the commandment of the Lord and your words, because I feared the people and obeyed their voice.

“ All of you, assemble yourselves, and hear! Who among them has declared these things? The Lord loves him; He shall do His pleasure on Babylon, And His arm shall be against the Chaldeans.

I will send him against an ungodly nation, And against the people of My wrath I will give him charge, To seize the spoil, to take the prey, And to tread them down like the mire of the streets.

Thus says Cyrus king of Persia: All the kingdoms of the earth the Lord God of heaven has given me. And He has commanded me to build Him a house at Jerusalem which is in Judah. Who is among you of all His people? May the Lord his God be with him, and let him go up!

Cursed is he who does the work of the Lord deceitfully, And cursed is he who keeps back his sword from blood.

Have I now come up without the Lord against this place to destroy it? The Lord said to me,‘ Go up against this land, and destroy it.’”

But Moses was angry with the officers of the army, with the captains over thousands and captains over hundreds, who had come from the battle.And Moses said to them:“ Have you kept all the women alive?Look, these women caused the children of Israel, through the counsel of Balaam, to trespass against the Lord in the incident of Peor, and there was a plague among the congregation of the Lord.Now therefore, kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman who has known a man intimately.But keep alive for yourselves all the young girls who have not known a man intimately.
