Then Moab will be ashamed of Chemosh, as Israel was ashamed when they trusted in Bethel.

Then Moab’s people will be ashamed of their god named Chemosh. They will be ashamed just as the people of Israel were when they trusted in their false god at Bethel.

Then Moab shall be ashamed of Chemosh, as the house of Israel was ashamed of Bethel, their confidence.

At last Moab will be ashamed of his idol Chemosh, as the people of Israel were ashamed of their gold calf at Bethel.

Moab will be put to shame because of Chemosh, just as the house of Israel was put to shame because of Bethel that they trusted in.

And Moab will be ashamed of Chemosh, just as the house of Israel was ashamed of Bethel, their confidence.

Moab shall be ashamed of Chemosh, As the house of Israel was ashamed of Bethel, their confidence.

And Moab shall be ashamed of Chemosh, as the house of Israel was ashamed of Beth- el their confidence.

Moab will be put to shame because of Chemosh, just as the house of Israel was put to shame because of Bethel that they trusted in.

The people of Moab will be disappointed by their god Chemosh. They will be as disappointed as the people of Israel were when they put their trust in the calf god at Bethel.

Won’t you possess that which Chemosh your god gives you to possess? So whoever Yahweh our God has dispossessed from before us, them will we possess.

“ How it is broken down! How they wail! How Moab has turned the back with shame! So will Moab become a derision and a terror to all who are around him.”

Let Samaria throw out his calf idol! My anger burns against them! How long will it be until they are capable of purity?For this is even from Israel! The workman made it, and it is no God; indeed, the calf of Samaria shall be broken in pieces.

They will be disappointed, yes, confounded, all of them. Those who are makers of idols will go into confusion together.

Then Solomon built a high place for Chemosh the abomination of Moab, on the mountain that is before Jerusalem, and for Molech the abomination of the children of Ammon.

It will happen that when Moab presents himself, when he wearies himself on the high place, and comes to his sanctuary to pray, that he will not prevail.

Ephraim will receive shame, and Israel will be ashamed of his own counsel.

They took the bull which was given them, and they dressed it, and called on the name of Baal from morning even until noon, saying,“ Baal, hear us!” But there was no voice, and nobody answered. They leaped about the altar which was made.At noon, Elijah mocked them, and said,“ Cry aloud; for he is a god. For, because you have trusted in your works and in your treasures, you also will be taken. Chemosh will go out into captivity, his priests and his princes together.

Woe to you, O Moab! The people of Chemosh are undone; for your sons are taken away captive, and your daughters into captivity.

Bel bows down. Nebo stoops. Their idols are carried by animals, and on the livestock. The things that you carried around are heavy loads, a burden for the weary.They stoop and they bow down together. They could not deliver the burden, but they have gone into captivity.

When the people of Ashdod arose early on the next day, behold, Dagon had fallen on his face to the ground before Yahweh’s ark. Only Dagon’s torso was intact.Therefore neither the priests of Dagon nor any who come into Dagon’s house step on the threshold of Dagon in Ashdod to this day.But Yahweh’s hand was heavy on the people of Ashdod, and he destroyed them and struck them with tumors, even Ashdod and its borders.When the men of Ashdod saw that it was so, they said,“ The ark of the God of Israel shall not stay with us, for his hand is severe on us and on Dagon our god.”

So the king took counsel, and made two calves of gold; and he said to them,“ It is too much for you to go up to Jerusalem. Look and behold your gods, Israel, which brought you up out of the land of Egypt!”He set the one in Bethel, and the other he put in Dan.
