at the sound of the hooves of galloping steeds, at the noise of enemy chariots and the rumble of their wheels. Parents will not turn to help their children; their hands will hang limp.

They will weep when they hear galloping horses. They will weep at the noise of enemy chariots. They will weep at the rumble of their wheels. Parents will not even try to help their children. Their hands will not be able to help them.

Fathers will hear the hoofbeats of the enemies’ horses, the clatter of their chariots and the rumbling of their wheels. They will not turn back to save their children because they will be paralyzed with fear.

蹄声隆隆，骏马疾驰！

“从但传来敌人战马的嘶鸣，声音震动大地。他们要来吞灭我们的土地和作物、城邑和居民。

战车在街道上狂奔，在广场上横冲直撞，亮如火炬，疾似闪电。

“马的力量岂是你赐的？它颈上的鬃毛岂是你披的？岂是你使它跳跃如蝗虫，发出令人胆寒的长嘶？它在谷中刨地，炫耀力量，奋力冲向敌军。它嘲笑恐惧，毫不害怕，不因刀剑而退缩。它背上的箭袋铮铮作响，长矛和投枪闪闪发光。角声一响，它便无法静立，狂烈地颤抖，急于驰骋大地。听到角声，它就发出长嘶，它老远便嗅到战争的气味，并听见吶喊和将领的号令。

豺狼尚且哺养自己的幼儿，我的子民却像荒野的鸵鸟一样残忍无情。婴儿干渴难忍，舌头紧贴上膛；孩童乞求食物，却无人给予。

他人马众多，扬起的尘土足以遮盖你。他要攻破你的城池，进入你的城门，他的骑兵、军需车和战车要震动你的城墙。他战马的铁蹄必踏遍你的街道。他必挥刀屠杀你的居民，推倒你坚固的神柱，

鞭声啪啪，车轮隆隆，战马奔腾，战车疾驰，骑士冲锋，刀光闪闪，矛枪生辉；被杀者众多，尸骨成堆，人们被遍地的尸体绊倒。

因为被敌人困在城中，饥饿难熬，连你们中间最温柔体贴的男人也要独自吞吃子女的肉，不肯分给自己的兄弟、爱妻和剩下的儿女。

战马奔驰吧！战车疾驶吧！勇士啊，就是那些手拿盾牌的古实人和弗人以及箭法娴熟的吕底亚人啊，出战吧！
