This is what the Lord says:“ Behold, waters are going to rise from the north And become an overflowing torrent, And overflow the land and everything that is in it, The city and those who live in it; And the people will cry out, And every inhabitant of the land will wail.

耶和华如此说：“有水从北方发起，成为涨溢的河，要涨过遍地和其中所有的，并城和其中所住的。人必呼喊；境内的居民都必哀号。

『永恆主這麼說：看吧，有水從北方湧起，成為氾濫的溪河；諸水必氾濫、漫過遍地和其中所有的，以及眾城市和住於其中的居民；人必哀呼喊叫，境內居民都必哀號。

耶和華云、有水自北方湧出、將成汎濫之河、淹沒斯土、與其所有、及厥城邑居民、眾皆哀哭、境內諸民號咷、

耶和華曰、大河自北至、勢若洪濤、泛濫斯土、諸邑民人、盡遭淹沒、號呼哭泣不已。

主如是云、水自北至、成為漲溢之河、泛濫斯地、淹沒其上所有、淹沒城邑與其居民、人俱號呼、居民哀哭、

This is what the Lord says:“ See how the waters are rising in the north; they will become an overflowing torrent. They will overflow the land and everything in it, the towns and those who live in them. The people will cry out; all who dwell in the land will wail

The Lord said,“ The armies of Babylon are like waters rising in the north. They will become a great flood. They will flow over the land and everything in it. They will flow over the towns and those who live in them. The people will cry out. All those who live in the land will weep.

“ Thus says the Lord: Behold, waters are rising out of the north, and shall become an overflowing torrent; they shall overflow the land and all that fills it, the city and those who dwell in it. Men shall cry out, and every inhabitant of the land shall wail.

This is what the Lord says:“ A flood is coming from the north to overflow the land. It will destroy the land and everything in it— cities and people alike. People will scream in terror, and everyone in the land will wail.

Egypt is a pretty heifer, But a horsefly is coming from the north— it is coming!

Now therefore, behold, the Lord is about to bring on them the strong and abundant waters of the Euphrates River, That is, the king of Assyria and all his glory; And it will rise over all its channels and go over all its banks.Then it will sweep on into Judah, it will overflow and pass through, It will reach as far as the neck; And the spread of its wings will fill the expanse of your land, Immanuel.

From Dan there is heard the snorting of his horses; At the sound of the neighing of his stallions The whole land quakes; For they come and devour the land and its fullness, The city and its inhabitants.

The people have gone up to the temple and to Dibon, to the high places to weep. Moab wails over Nebo and Medeba; Everyone’s head is bald and every beard is cut off.In their streets they have put on sackcloth; On their housetops and in their public squares Everyone is wailing, overcome with weeping.Heshbon and Elealeh also cry out, Their voice is heard all the way to Jahaz; Therefore the armed men of Moab cry aloud; His soul trembles within him.My heart cries out for Moab; His fugitives are as far as Zoar and Eglath shelishiyah, For they go up the ascent of Luhith weeping; Indeed, on the road to Horonaim they raise a cry of distress over their collapse.

Then the Lord said to me,“ Out of the north the evil will be unleashed on all the inhabitants of the land.

May the heavens be joyful, and may the earth rejoice; May the sea roar, and all it contains;

For the cry of distress has gone around the territory of Moab, Its wailing goes as far as Eglaim and its howling to Beer elim.

The earth is the Lord’s, and all it contains, The world, and those who live in it.

So they will fear the name of the Lord from the west And His glory from the rising of the sun, For He will come like a rushing stream Which the wind of the Lord drives.

And the serpent hurled water like a river out of his mouth after the woman, so that he might cause her to be swept away with the flood.But the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened its mouth and drank up the river which the dragon had hurled out of his mouth.

“ How shattered it is! How they have wailed! How Moab has turned his back— he is ashamed! So Moab will become a laughingstock and an object of terror to all around him.”

The sound of an outcry from Horonaim,‘ Devastation and great destruction!’Moab is broken, Her little ones have sounded out a cry of distress.For they will go up by the ascent of Luhith With continual weeping; For at the descent of Horonaim They have heard the anguished cry of destruction.

May the sea roar and all it contains, The world and those who dwell in it.

This is the message which the Lord spoke to Jeremiah the prophet about the coming of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon to strike the land of Egypt:

Come now, you rich people, weep and howl for your miseries which are coming upon you.

If I were hungry I would not tell you, For the world is Mine, and everything it contains.

Wail, you gate; cry, you city; Melt away, Philistia, all of you! For smoke comes from the north, And there is no straggler in his ranks.

But if anyone says to you,“ This is meat sacrificed to idols,” do not eat it, for the sake of that one who informed you and for the sake of conscience;

But with an overflowing flood He will make a complete end of its site, And will pursue His enemies into darkness.

And on that day,” declares the Lord,“ There will be the sound of a cry from the Fish Gate, Wailing from the Second Quarter, And a loud crash from the hills.Wail, you inhabitants of the Mortar, Because all the people of Canaan will be destroyed; All who weigh out silver will be eliminated.

And the overflowing forces will be flooded away from him and smashed, and also the prince of the covenant.

And he* said to me,“ The waters which you saw where the prostitute sits are peoples and multitudes, and nations and languages.

The Lord God of armies, The One who touches the land so that it quakes, And all those who live in it mourn, And all of it rises up like the Nile And subsides like the Nile of Egypt;The One who builds His upper chambers in the heavens And has founded His vaulted dome over the earth, He who calls for the waters of the sea And pours them out on the face of the earth, The Lord is His name.

Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls came and spoke with me, saying,“ Come here, I will show you the judgment of the great prostitute who sits on many waters,

I will make justice the measuring line And righteousness the level; Then hail will sweep away the refuge of lies, And the waters will overflow the secret place.

Therefore I say,“ Look away from me, Let me weep bitterly, Do not try to comfort me concerning the destruction of the daughter of my people.”For the Lord God of armies has a day of panic, subjugation, and confusion In the valley of vision, A breaking down of walls And a crying to the mountain.

for the earth is the Lord’s, and all it contains.

Let not the swift man flee, Nor the warrior escape. In the north beside the river Euphrates They have stumbled and fallen.Who is this that rises like the Nile, Like the rivers whose waters surge?Egypt rises like the Nile, And like the rivers whose waters surge; And He has said,“ I will rise and cover that land; I will destroy the city and its inhabitants.”

The pronouncement concerning the valley of vision: What is the matter with you now, that you have all gone up to the housetops?
