耶和華曰、我奚見此哉、彼眾驚而卻退、勇士敗潰、急遁不顧其後、四周惶恐、

What do I see? They are terrified, they are retreating, their warriors are defeated. They flee in haste without looking back, and there is terror on every side,” declares the Lord.

因为主使亚兰人的军队听见战车、战马和大军的声音；他们就彼此说：“看哪，一定是以色列王雇用了赫人的众王和埃及人的众王来攻击我们。”于是他们在黄昏的时候起来逃跑，他们丢下他们的帐幕，他们的马匹和他们的驴子；军营仍在那里，他们却只顾逃命去了。

你的壮士为什么俯伏？他们站立不住（“你的壮士为什么俯伏？他们站立不住”或可参照《七十士译本》译作“为什么亚比士神逃跑？你的牛神站立不住”），是因耶和华把他们推倒了。

我在他们面前向你挥动刀剑的时候，他们必因你惊骇，他们的君王也必因你非常恐慌；在你倾覆的日子，他们各人都必为自己的性命时刻战兢。

二人把他们带出来以后，其中一位说：“逃命吧，不要回头看，也不可留在这片平原上，要逃到山上去，免得你被除灭。”

地上的君王、大臣、军长、财主、勇士和所有作奴隶的、自由的，都藏在山洞和岩穴里。他们向山岭和岩石说：“倒在我们身上吧！把我们藏起来，躲避坐在宝座上那位的面，和羊羔的震怒！因为他们震怒的大日子来到了，谁能站立得住呢？”

到那日，埃及人必像妇人一样。他们必因万军之耶和华在埃及之上挥手而战兢恐惧。

次日，巴施户珥把耶利米从枷锁上解下来，耶利米就对他说：“耶和华不再称你的名为巴施户珥，却要称你为玛歌珥．米撒毕（“玛歌珥．米撒毕”意即“四围惊慌”）。因为耶和华这样说：‘看哪！我要使你自己和你所有的朋友都惊惶失措；他们必倒在他们仇敌的刀下，你也必亲眼看见。我要把全犹大交在巴比伦王手中；他要把他们掳到巴比伦去，或用刀击杀他们。
