彼以金募壯士、俱若肥牛、災害既臨、敗北而遁、不能禦敵。

其中募卒、亦若肥犢、災害之日既至、患難之時既臨、則咸轉身而遁、不立而禦敵、

The mercenaries in her ranks are like fattened calves. They too will turn and flee together, they will not stand their ground, for the day of disaster is coming upon them, the time for them to be punished.

Hired soldiers are in Egypt’s army. They are like fat calves. All of them will turn and run away. They will not hold their positions. The day of trouble is coming on them. The time for them to be punished is near.

Even her hired soldiers in her midst are like fattened calves; yes, they have turned and fled together; they did not stand, for the day of their calamity has come upon them, the time of their punishment.

Egypt’s mercenaries have become like fattened calves. They, too, will turn and run, for it is a day of great disaster for Egypt, a time of great punishment.

Even her mercenaries among her are like stall-fed calves. They too will turn back; together they will flee; they will not take their stand, for the day of their calamity is coming on them, the time of their punishment.

Also her mercenaries in her midst Are like fattened calves, For they too have turned away and have fled together; They did not stand their ground. For the day of their disaster has come upon them, The time of their punishment.

因為主使亞蘭人的軍隊聽見戰車、戰馬和大軍的聲音；他們就彼此說：“看哪，一定是以色列王雇用了赫人的眾王和埃及人的眾王來攻擊我們。”

但為甚麼我看見他們驚惶，轉身退後呢？他們的勇士被擊敗了，他們急速奔逃，不敢回轉。四圍都是驚慌。”這是耶和華的宣告。

我子民遭災的日子，你不該進入他們的城門；他們遭災的日子，你不該看著他們受苦；他們遭災的日子，你不該搶奪他們的財物。

但主必笑他，因為知道他遭報的日子快要來到。

懲罰的日子臨近，報應的時候來到，以色列必定知道，因著你們眾多的罪孽和深仇大恨，先知被看為愚昧，受靈感動的人被當作瘋子。

要擊殺它所有的公牛，使他們下去被屠殺！他們有禍了！因為他們的日子，就是他們受懲罰的時候，來到了。

亞捫人知道大衛憎惡他們，就派人去招募伯‧利合的亞蘭人和瑣巴的亞蘭人，步兵二萬，瑪迦王的人一千，陀伯人一萬二千。

你們臥在象牙床上，躺在榻上；你們吃羊群中的羊羔，和牛棚裡的牛犢。

他們中最好的，也不過像荊棘，最正直的，也不過是有刺的籬笆。你的守望者所預言的日子，和你被鑒察的時候，已經來到；現在他們必要慌亂不安。

野牛、牛犢與壯牛要與他們一同倒下，他們的地喝足了血，他們的塵土因脂肪而肥潤。

吃素菜而彼此相愛，勝過吃肥牛卻彼此憎恨。

在他們的敵人面前，我要像東風吹散他們；在他們遭難的日子，我必使他們只見我的背，不見我的面。”

到降罰的日子，有災禍從遠方來到，那時你們要怎樣行呢？你們可以向誰逃奔求助呢？你們可以把你們的財寶撇在哪裡呢？

馬匹啊，上前吧！戰車啊，狂奔吧！勇士啊，就是緊握盾牌的古實人和弗人，以及拉弓的呂底亞人哪，上陣吧！

“搶奪我產業的啊！你們雖然歡喜快樂，像踹穀的母牛犢跳躍，像雄壯的馬嘶叫；

你的壯士為甚麼俯伏？他們站立不住（“你的壯士為甚麼俯伏？他們站立不住”或可參照《七十士譯本》譯作“為甚麼亞比士神逃跑？你的牛神站立不住”），是因耶和華把他們推倒了。他使眾人絆跌，倒在一起；他們說：‘起來！我們要回到我們本族，和我們出生之地那裡去，躲避欺壓者的刀劍。’

因為你永遠懷恨，在以色列人遭遇災難，刑罰到了頂點的時候，你把他們交在刀劍之下，

波斯人、路德人、弗人都在你的軍隊中作戰士；他們在你那裡掛起盾牌和頭盔，彰顯你的光榮。在你四圍的城牆上有亞發人和赫勒克人（“赫勒克人”或譯：“你的軍兵”）；在你的城樓上有歌瑪底人（“歌瑪底人”或譯：“勇士”）。他們把自己的盾牌掛在你四圍的城牆上，使你全然美麗。

必有刀劍臨到埃及，被殺的人倒在埃及的時候，在古實就有痛苦；埃及的財富必被奪去，它的根基必被拆毀。古實人、弗人、路德人、所有外族的人、呂彼亞（“呂彼亞”原文作“古巴”）人，以及與埃及結盟的人，都必與埃及人一起倒在刀下。“‘耶和華這樣說：那些支持埃及的必傾倒，埃及所誇耀的勢力必衰落。從密奪到色弗尼，他們都必倒在刀下；這是主耶和華說的：

但耶書崙肥胖了，就踢跳，‘你肥胖了，你粗壯了，你飽滿了，’他離棄了造他的神，輕看了救他的磐石。
