You said,‘ Woe to me! The Lord has added sorrow to my pain; I am worn out with groaning and find no rest.’

‘ You have said,“ How terrible it is for me! The Lord has added sorrow to my pain. I’m worn out from all my groaning. I can’t find any rest.” ’

You said,‘ Woe is me! For the Lord has added sorrow to my pain. I am weary with my groaning, and I find no rest.’

You have said,‘ I am overwhelmed with trouble! Haven’t I had enough pain already? And now the Lord has added more! I am worn out from sighing and can find no rest.’

‘ You have said,“ Woe is me, because the LORD has added misery to my pain! I am worn out with groaning and have found no rest.”’

‘ You said,“ Oh, woe to me! For the Lord has added grief to my pain; I am weary with my groaning and have found no rest.” ’

Thou didst say, Woe is me now! for Jehovah hath added sorrow to my pain; I am weary with my groaning, and I find no rest.

‘ You have said,“ Woe is me, because the Lord has added misery to my pain! I am worn out with groaning and have found no rest.”’

‘ You have said,“ I feel so hopeless! For the LORD has added sorrow to my suffering. I am worn out from groaning. I can’t find any rest.”’”

‘ You said,“ Woe is me now! For Yahweh has added sorrow to my pain! I am weary with my groaning, and I find no rest.”’

Therefore, since we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we do not lose heart.

Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day.

And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.

For consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, lest you become weary and discouraged in your souls.You have not yet resisted to bloodshed, striving against sin.And you have forgotten the exhortation which speaks to you as to sons:“ My son, do not despise the chastening of the Lord, Nor be discouraged when you are rebuked by Him;

Oh, that my head were waters, And my eyes a fountain of tears, That I might weep day and night For the slain of the daughter of my people!

“ Let all their wickedness come before You, And do to them as You have done to me For all my transgressions; For my sighs are many, And my heart is faint.”

I am weary with my crying; My throat is dry; My eyes fail while I wait for my God.

“ Even today my complaint is bitter; My hand is listless because of my groaning.

Woe is me, my mother, That you have borne me, A man of strife and a man of contention to the whole earth! I have neither lent for interest, Nor have men lent to me for interest. Every one of them curses me.The Lord said:“ Surely it will be well with your remnant; Surely I will cause the enemy to intercede with you In the time of adversity and in the time of affliction.Can anyone break iron, The northern iron and the bronze?Your wealth and your treasures I will give as plunder without price, Because of all your sins, Throughout your territories.And I will make you cross over with your enemies Into a land which you do not know; For a fire is kindled in My anger, Which shall burn upon you.”O Lord, You know; Remember me and visit me, And take vengeance for me on my persecutors. In Your enduring patience, do not take me away. Know that for Your sake I have suffered rebuke.Your words were found, and I ate them, And Your word was to me the joy and rejoicing of my heart; For I am called by Your name, O Lord God of hosts.I did not sit in the assembly of the mockers, Nor did I rejoice; I sat alone because of Your hand, For You have filled me with indignation.Why is my pain perpetual And my wound incurable, Which refuses to be healed? Will You surely be to me like an unreliable stream, As waters that fail?Therefore thus says the Lord:“ If you return, Then I will bring you back; You shall stand before Me; If you take out the precious from the vile, You shall be as My mouth. Let them return to you, But you must not return to them.And I will make you to this people a fortified bronze wall; And they will fight against you, But they shall not prevail against you; For I am with you to save you And deliver you,” says the Lord.“ I will deliver you from the hand of the wicked, And I will redeem you from the grip of the terrible.”

Then Jacob tore his clothes, put sackcloth on his waist, and mourned for his son many days.And all his sons and all his daughters arose to comfort him; but he refused to be comforted, and he said,“ For I shall go down into the grave to my son in mourning.” Thus his father wept for him.

And Joshua said,“ Alas, Lord GOD, why have You brought this people over the Jordan at all— to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to destroy us? Oh, that we had been content, and dwelt on the other side of the Jordan!O Lord, what shall I say when Israel turns its back before its enemies?For the Canaanites and all the inhabitants of the land will hear it, and surround us, and cut off our name from the earth. Then what will You do for Your great name?”

O Lord, You induced me, and I was persuaded; You are stronger than I, and have prevailed. I am in derision daily; Everyone mocks me.For when I spoke, I cried out; I shouted,“ Violence and plunder!” Because the word of the Lord was made to me A reproach and a derision daily.Then I said,“ I will not make mention of Him, Nor speak anymore in His name.” But His word was in my heart like a burning fire Shut up in my bones; I was weary of holding it back, And I could not.For I heard many mocking:“ Fear on every side!”“ Report,” they say,“ and we will report it!” All my acquaintances watched for my stumbling, saying,“ Perhaps he can be induced; Then we will prevail against him, And we will take our revenge on him.”But the Lord is with me as a mighty, awesome One. Therefore my persecutors will stumble, and will not prevail. They will be greatly ashamed, for they will not prosper. Their everlasting confusion will never be forgotten.But, O Lord of hosts, You who test the righteous, And see the mind and heart, Let me see Your vengeance on them; For I have pleaded my cause before You.Sing to the Lord! Praise the Lord! For He has delivered the life of the poor From the hand of evildoers.Cursed be the day in which I was born! Let the day not be blessed in which my mother bore me!Let the man be cursed Who brought news to my father, saying,“ A male child has been born to you!” Making him very glad.And let that man be like the cities Which the Lord overthrew, and did not relent; Let him hear the cry in the morning And the shouting at noon,Because he did not kill me from the womb, That my mother might have been my grave, And her womb always enlarged with me.Why did I come forth from the womb to see labor and sorrow, That my days should be consumed with shame?

I would have lost heart, unless I had believed That I would see the goodness of the Lord In the land of the living.

But as for you, brethren, do not grow weary in doing good.

I remembered God, and was troubled; I complained, and my spirit was overwhelmed. SelahYou hold my eyelids open; I am so troubled that I cannot speak.

Woe is me, that I dwell in Meshech, That I dwell among the tents of Kedar!

I am weary with my groaning; All night I make my bed swim; I drench my couch with my tears.

So Moses said to the Lord,“ Why have You afflicted Your servant? And why have I not found favor in Your sight, that You have laid the burden of all these people on me?Did I conceive all these people? Did I beget them, that You should say to me,‘ Carry them in your bosom, as a guardian carries a nursing child,’ to the land which You swore to their fathers?Where am I to get meat to give to all these people? For they weep all over me, saying,‘ Give us meat, that we may eat.’I am not able to bear all these people alone, because the burden is too heavy for me.If You treat me like this, please kill me here and now— if I have found favor in Your sight— and do not let me see my wretchedness!”

And Jacob their father said to them,“ You have bereaved me: Joseph is no more, Simeon is no more, and you want to take Benjamin. All these things are against me.”Then Reuben spoke to his father, saying,“ Kill my two sons if I do not bring him back to you; put him in my hands, and I will bring him back to you.”But he said,“ My son shall not go down with you, for his brother is dead, and he is left alone. If any calamity should befall him along the way in which you go, then you would bring down my gray hair with sorrow to the grave.”

Deep calls unto deep at the noise of Your waterfalls; All Your waves and billows have gone over me.

If you faint in the day of adversity, Your strength is small.

God has delivered me to the ungodly, And turned me over to the hands of the wicked.I was at ease, but He has shattered me; He also has taken me by my neck, and shaken me to pieces; He has set me up for His target,His archers surround me. He pierces my heart and does not pity; He pours out my gall on the ground.

I would comfort myself in sorrow; My heart is faint in me.

Though He causes grief, Yet He will show compassion According to the multitude of His mercies.

“ From above He has sent fire into my bones, And it overpowered them; He has spread a net for my feet And turned me back; He has made me desolate And faint all the day.

I am the man who has seen affliction by the rod of His wrath.He has led me and made me walk In darkness and not in light.Surely He has turned His hand against me Time and time again throughout the day.He has aged my flesh and my skin, And broken my bones.He has besieged me And surrounded me with bitterness and woe.He has set me in dark places Like the dead of long ago.He has hedged me in so that I cannot get out; He has made my chain heavy.Even when I cry and shout, He shuts out my prayer.He has blocked my ways with hewn stone; He has made my paths crooked.He has been to me a bear lying in wait, Like a lion in ambush.He has turned aside my ways and torn me in pieces; He has made me desolate.He has bent His bow And set me up as a target for the arrow.He has caused the arrows of His quiver To pierce my loins.I have become the ridicule of all my people— Their taunting song all the day.He has filled me with bitterness, He has made me drink wormwood.He has also broken my teeth with gravel, And covered me with ashes.You have moved my soul far from peace; I have forgotten prosperity.And I said,“ My strength and my hope Have perished from the Lord.”Remember my affliction and roaming, The wormwood and the gall.
