The other ten had talked Ishmael into letting them go by promising to bring him their stores of wheat, barley, olive oil, and honey that they had hidden away.

But ten of them said to Ishmael,“ Don’t kill us! We have wheat and barley, olive oil and honey, hidden in a field.” So he let them alone and did not kill them with the others.

But ten of the men had spoken to Ishmael. They had said,“ Don’t kill us! We have some wheat and barley. We also have olive oil and honey. We’ve hidden all of it in a field.” So he didn’t kill them along with the others.

But there were ten men among them who said to Ishmael,“ Do not put us to death, for we have stores of wheat, barley, oil, and honey hidden in the fields.” So he refrained and did not put them to death with their companions.

However, there were ten men among them who said to Ishmael,“ Don’t kill us, for we have hidden treasure in the field— wheat, barley, oil, and honey!” So he stopped and did not kill them along with their companions.

But ten men who were found among them said to Ishmael,“ Do not put us to death, for we have supplies of wheat, barley, oil, and honey hidden in the field.” So he refrained and did not put them to death along with their companions.

Satan replied to the Lord,“ Skin for skin! A man will give up everything he has to save his life.

The rich can pay a ransom for their lives, but the poor won’t even get threatened.

And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul?Is anything worth more than your soul?

They trust in their wealth and boast of great riches.Yet they cannot redeem themselves from death by paying a ransom to God.Redemption does not come so easily, for no one can ever pay enough

And I will give you treasures hidden in the darkness— secret riches. I will do this so you may know that I am the Lord, the God of Israel, the one who calls you by name.

And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul? Is anything worth more than your soul?

“ That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life— whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing?

I once thought these things were valuable, but now I consider them worthless because of what Christ has done.Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christand become one with him. I no longer count on my own righteousness through obeying the law; rather, I become righteous through faith in Christ. For God’s way of making us right with himself depends on faith.
