But Gedaliah son of Ahikam said to Johanan son of Kareah,“ Don’t do such a thing! What you are saying about Ishmael is not true.”

But Gedaliah, the son of Ahikam, spoke to Johanan, the son of Kareah. He said,“ Don’t do an awful thing like that! What you are saying about Ishmael isn’t true.”

But Gedaliah the son of Ahikam said to Johanan the son of Kareah,“ You shall not do this thing, for you are speaking falsely of Ishmael.”

But Gedaliah said to Johanan,“ I forbid you to do any such thing, for you are lying about Ishmael.”

But Gedaliah son of Ahikam responded to Johanan son of Kareah,“ Don’t do that! What you’re saying about Ishmael is a lie.”

But Gedaliah the son of Ahikam said to Johanan the son of Kareah,“ Do not do this thing, for you are telling a lie about Ishmael.”

But Gedaliah the son of Ahikam said to Johanan the son of Kareah,“ You shall not do this thing, for you speak falsely concerning Ishmael.”

But Gedaliah the son of Ahikam said unto Johanan the son of Kareah, Thou shalt not do this thing; for thou speakest falsely of Ishmael.

But Gedaliah son of Ahikam responded to Johanan son of Kareah,“ Don’t do that! What you’re saying about Ishmael is a lie.”

But Gedaliah the son of Ahikam said unto Johanan the son of Kareah, Thou shalt not do this thing: for thou speakest falsely of Ishmael.

But Gedaliah son of Ahikam said to Johanan son of Kareah,“ Do not do that because what you are saying about Ishmael is not true.”

Then Ishmael the son of Nethaniah arose, and the ten men who were with him, and struck Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan with the sword and killed him, whom the king of Babylon had made governor over the land.

“ Behold, I send you out as sheep among wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.But beware of men: for they will deliver you up to councils, and in their synagogues they will scourge you.

Why not( as we are slanderously reported, and as some affirm that we say),“ Let’s do evil, that good may come?” Those who say so are justly condemned.
