The LORD said,“ Announce this in Judah and proclaim it in Jerusalem:‘ Sound the trumpet throughout the land!’ Shout out loudly,‘ Gather together! Let us flee into the fortified cities!’

播告猶大及耶路撒冷、人當吹角、召眾和會、群入城垣、

爾曹播告於猶大、宣示於耶路撒冷曰、當吹角於斯地、高聲而呼曰、爾曹聚集、爾我當入鞏固之城、

“ Announce in Judah and proclaim in Jerusalem and say:‘ Sound the trumpet throughout the land!’ Cry aloud and say:‘ Gather together! Let us flee to the fortified cities!’

“ Announce my message in Judah. Tell it in Jerusalem. Say,‘ Blow trumpets all through the land!’ Give a loud shout and say,‘ Gather together! Let’s run to cities that have high walls around them!’

Declare in Judah, and proclaim in Jerusalem, and say,“ Blow the trumpet through the land; cry aloud and say,‘ Assemble, and let us go into the fortified cities!’

“ Shout to Judah, and broadcast to Jerusalem! Tell them to sound the alarm throughout the land:‘ Run for your lives! Flee to the fortified cities!’

Declare in Judah, proclaim in Jerusalem, and say, Blow the ram’s horn throughout the land. Cry out loudly and say,“ Assemble yourselves, and let’s flee to the fortified cities.”

Declare in Judah and proclaim in Jerusalem, and say,“ Blow the trumpet in the land; Cry aloud and say,‘ Assemble, and let’s go Into the fortified cities.’

The people say,“ Why are we just sitting here? Let us gather together inside the fortified cities. Let us at least die there fighting, since the LORD our God has condemned us to die. He has condemned us to drink the poison waters of judgment because we have sinned against him.

“ Run for safety, people of Benjamin! Get out of Jerusalem! Sound the trumpet in Tekoa! Light the signal fires at Beth Hakkerem! For disaster lurks out of the north; it will bring great destruction.

Joshua and the Israelites almost totally wiped them out, but some survivors did escape to the fortified cities.

Sound the alarm! An eagle looms over the temple of the LORD! For they have broken their covenant with me, and have rebelled against my law.

But when King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon invaded the land we said,‘ Let’s get up and go to Jerusalem to get away from the Babylonian and Aramean armies.’ That is why we are staying here in Jerusalem.”

“ Proclaim this message among the descendants of Jacob. Make it known throughout Judah.

If an alarm sounds in a city, do people not fear? If disaster overtakes a city, is the LORD not responsible?

“ Hear the terms of the covenant I made with Israel and pass them on to the people of Judah and the citizens of Jerusalem.

“ Son of man, speak to your people, and say to them,‘ Suppose I bring a sword against the land, and the people of the land take one man from their borders and make him their watchman.He sees the sword coming against the land, blows the trumpet, and warns the people,but there is one who hears the sound of the trumpet yet does not heed the warning. Then the sword comes and sweeps him away. He will be responsible for his own death.He heard the sound of the trumpet but did not heed the warning, so he is responsible for himself. If he had heeded the warning, he would have saved his life.But suppose the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet to warn the people. Then the sword comes and takes one of their lives. He is swept away for his iniquity, but I will hold the watchman accountable for that person’s death.’

A lion has roared! Who is not afraid? The sovereign LORD has spoken! Who can refuse to prophesy?

I said,“ Who is wise enough to understand why this has happened? Who has a word from the LORD that can explain it? Why does the land lie in ruins? Why is it as scorched as a desert through which no one travels?”
