“ For my people are foolish. They don’t know me. They are foolish children, and they have no understanding. They are skillful in doing evil, but they don’t know how to do good.”

耶和华说：“我的百姓愚顽，不认识我；他们是愚昧无知的儿女，有智慧行恶，没有知识行善。”

『因為我的人民愚妄，連我、他們也不認識；愚頑的兒女啊、他們！無知啊、他們！他們有智巧去作壞事，要怎樣行善、卻不曉得。』

我民蒙昧、而不我識、愚蠢之子、罔有聰慧、行惡有智、行善無智、○

耶和華曰、我民愚昧、俱不知我、不明孰甚、作惡則智、為善則愚。

主曰、我民愚拙、俱不知我、蒙昧之子、毫無明哲、惟巧於行惡、不知行善、

“ My people are fools; they do not know me. They are senseless children; they have no understanding. They are skilled in doing evil; they know not how to do good.”

The Lord says,“ My people are foolish. They do not know me. They are children who do not have any sense. They have no understanding at all. They are skilled in doing what is evil. They do not know how to do what is good.”

“ For my people are foolish; they know me not; they are stupid children; they have no understanding. They are‘ wise’— in doing evil! But how to do good they know not.”

“ My people are foolish and do not know me,” says the Lord.“ They are stupid children who have no understanding. They are clever enough at doing wrong, but they have no idea how to do right!”

“ For my people are fools; they do not know me. They are foolish children, without understanding. They are skilled in doing what is evil, but they do not know how to do what is good.”

For my people[ is] foolish, they have not known me; they[ are] sottish children, and they have none understanding: they[ are] wise to do evil, but to do good they have no knowledge.

The LORD answered,“ This will happen because my people are foolish. They do not know me. They are like children who have no sense. They have no understanding. They are skilled at doing evil. They do not know how to do good.”

Brothers, don’t be children in thoughts, yet in malice be babies, but in thoughts be mature.

For your obedience has become known to all. I rejoice therefore over you. But I desire to have you wise in that which is good, but innocent in that which is evil.

‘ Hear this now, foolish people without understanding, who have eyes, and don’t see, who have ears, and don’t hear:

There is no one who understands. There is no one who seeks after God.

Woe to those who devise iniquity and work evil on their beds! When the morning is light, they practice it, because it is in the power of their hand.

Their deeds won’t allow them to turn to their God; for the spirit of prostitution is within them, and they don’t know Yahweh.

For they are a nation void of counsel. There is no understanding in them.

My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I will also reject you, that you may be no priest to me. Because you have forgotten your God’s law, I will also forget your children.

They will do these things because they have not known the Father, nor me.

Can the Ethiopian change his skin, or the leopard his spots? Then may you also do good, who are accustomed to do evil.

Even as they refused to have God in their knowledge, God gave them up to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not fitting;

When its boughs are withered, they will be broken off. The women will come and set them on fire, for they are a people of no understanding. Therefore he who made them will not have compassion on them, and he who formed them will show them no favor.

He said,“ Go, and tell this people,‘ You hear indeed, but don’t understand. You see indeed, but don’t perceive.’Make the heart of this people fat. Make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their heart, and turn again, and be healed.”

Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,

But they are together brutish and foolish, instructed by idols! It is just wood.

Then I said,“ Surely these are poor. They are foolish; for they don’t know the Yahweh’s way, nor the law of their God.

Who is blind, but my servant? Or who is as deaf as my messenger whom I send? Who is as blind as he who is at peace, and as blind as Yahweh’s servant?You see many things, but don’t observe. His ears are open, but he doesn’t listen.

The ox knows his owner, and the donkey his master’s crib; but Israel doesn’t know. My people don’t consider.”

Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the lawyer of this world? Hasn’t God made foolish the wisdom of this world?For seeing that in the wisdom of God, the world through its wisdom didn’t know God, it was God’s good pleasure through the foolishness of the preaching to save those who believe.

The fool has said in his heart,“ There is no God.” They are corrupt. They have done abominable deeds. There is no one who does good.Yahweh looked down from heaven on the children of men, to see if there were any who understood, who sought after God.They have all gone aside. They have together become corrupt. There is no one who does good, no, not one.Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge, who eat up my people as they eat bread, and don’t call on Yahweh?

“ Woe to you, you blind guides, who say,‘ Whoever swears by the temple, it is nothing; but whoever swears by the gold of the temple, he is obligated.’You blind fools! For which is greater, the gold, or the temple that sanctifies the gold?‘ Whoever swears by the altar, it is nothing; but whoever swears by the gift that is on it, he is obligated?’You blind fools! For which is greater, the gift, or the altar that sanctifies the gift?He therefore who swears by the altar, swears by it, and by everything on it.He who swears by the temple, swears by it, and by him who has been living in it.He who swears by heaven, swears by the throne of God, and by him who sits on it.“ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you tithe mint, dill, and cumin, and have left undone the weightier matters of the law: justice, mercy, and faith. But you ought to have done these, and not to have left the other undone.You blind guides, who strain out a gnat, and swallow a camel!“ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and unrighteousness.You blind Pharisee, first clean the inside of the cup and of the platter, that its outside may become clean also.

“ His lord commended the dishonest manager because he had done wisely, for the children of this world are, in their own generation, wiser than the children of the light.

Is this the way you repay Yahweh, foolish and unwise people? Isn’t he your father who has bought you? He has made you and established you.

Ahithophel said to Absalom,“ Go in to your father’s concubines that he has left to keep the house. Then all Israel will hear that you are abhorred by your father. Then the hands of all who are with you will be strong.”So they spread a tent for Absalom on the top of the house, and Absalom went in to his father’s concubines in the sight of all Israel.The counsel of Ahithophel, which he gave in those days, was as if a man inquired at the inner sanctuary of God. All the counsel of Ahithophel both was like this with David and with Absalom.

Yes, the stork in the sky knows her appointed times. The turtledove, the swallow, and the crane observe the time of their coming; but my people don’t know Yahweh’s law.“‘ How do you say,“ We are wise, and Yahweh’s law is with us?” But, behold, the false pen of the scribes has worked falsely.The wise men are disappointed. They are dismayed and trapped. Behold, they have rejected Yahweh’s word. What kind of wisdom is in them?

Hear Yahweh’s word, you children of Israel; for Yahweh has a charge against the inhabitants of the land:“ Indeed there is no truth, nor goodness, nor knowledge of God in the land.

But Amnon had a friend, whose name was Jonadab, the son of Shimeah, David’s brother; and Jonadab was a very subtle man.

For Yahweh has poured out on you a spirit of deep sleep, and has closed your eyes, the prophets; and he has covered your heads, the seers.All vision has become to you like the words of a book that is sealed, which men deliver to one who is educated, saying,“ Read this, please;” and he says,“ I can’t, for it is sealed;”and the book is delivered to one who is not educated, saying,“ Read this, please;” and he says,“ I can’t read.”
