彼所行艱苦、所為暴戾、喪其心術、自召禍患。

爾之舉動、爾之作為、使爾遭此諸難、爾受困苦災害及於爾心、乃因爾之邪惡、○

“ Your own conduct and actions have brought this on you. This is your punishment. How bitter it is! How it pierces to the heart!”

“ The army will attack you because of your conduct and actions. This is how you will be punished. It will be so bitter! It will cut deep down into your hearts!”

Have you not brought this on yourself by abandoning the LORD your God while he was leading you along the way?

Fools suffered affliction because of their rebellious ways and their iniquities.

This is what the LORD says: Where is your mother’s divorce certificate that I used to send her away? Or to which of my creditors did I sell you? Look, you were sold for your iniquities, and your mother was sent away because of your transgressions.

Listen, earth! I am about to bring disaster on these people, the fruit of their own plotting, for they have paid no attention to my words. They have rejected my instruction.

A wicked man’s iniquities will trap him; he will become tangled in the ropes of his own sin.

the joy of the wicked has been brief and the happiness of the godless has lasted only a moment?Though his arrogance reaches heaven, and his head touches the clouds,he will vanish forever like his own dung. Those who know him will ask,“ Where is he?”He will fly away like a dream and never be found; he will be chased away like a vision in the night.The eye that saw him will see him no more, and his household will no longer see him.His children will beg from the poor, for his own hands must give back his wealth.His frame may be full of youthful vigor, but it will lie down with him in dust.Though evil tastes sweet in his mouth and he conceals it under his tongue,though he cherishes it and will not let it go but keeps it in his mouth,yet the food in his stomach turns into cobras’ venom inside him.He swallows wealth but must vomit it up; God will force it from his stomach.He will suck the poison of cobras; a viper’s fangs will kill him.

When people ask,‘ For what offense has the LORD our God done all these things to us?’ You will respond to them,‘ Just as you abandoned me and served foreign gods in your land, so will you serve strangers in a land that is not yours.’

they will eat the fruit of their way and be glutted with their own schemes.

Did King Hezekiah of Judah and all the people of Judah put him to death? Did not the king fear the LORD and plead for the LORD’s favor, and did not the LORD relent concerning the disaster he had pronounced against them? We are about to bring a terrible disaster on ourselves!”
