耶和華曰、我將判擬耶路撒冷居民告之曰、我必使災熇之風、來自曠野童山、較簸揚禾穀之風尤大、以擊斯邦之民。

當是時必告斯民及耶路撒冷人曰、炎熇之風、自曠野童山向我民而吹、非為簸揚、非為潔禾、

他雖然在蘆葦中長得茂盛，但東風必要來到，耶和華的風要從曠野上來，他的水泉就乾涸，他的泉源就枯竭。他所貯藏的一切珍貴器皿，都被掠奪去了。

我們眾人都像不潔淨的人，我們所有的義，都像污穢的衣服；我們眾人都像葉子枯乾，我們的罪孽好像風一般把我們吹去。

看哪！耶和華的旋風，在震怒中發出，是旋轉的狂風，必捲到惡人的頭上。

看哪！耶和華的旋風，在震怒中發出，是橫掃的狂風，必捲到惡人的頭上。耶和華的烈怒必不轉消，直到他作成和實現他心中的計劃。在末後的日子，你們就會明白這事。

聽啊！我同胞（“同胞”原文作“人民的女子”）的呼救聲，從遙遠之地傳來：“耶和華不在錫安嗎？錫安的王不在其中嗎？”“他們為甚麼以自己雕刻的偶像，和列國虛無的偶像，來惹我發怒呢？”

我的眼睛因流淚而失明，我的心腸激動，我的肝膽傾倒在地，都因我的子民（“我的子民”原文作“我子民的女子”）遭毀滅，孩童和嬰兒在城裡的街上昏倒。

耶和華這樣說：“看哪！我必激動毀滅者的心，去攻擊巴比倫和住在立加米的人。我必打發外族人去巴比倫簸揚它，揚淨它的地；在它遭禍的日子，他們必從四圍攻擊它。

他手裡拿著簸箕，要揚淨麥場，把麥子收進倉裡，卻用不滅的火把糠秕燒盡。”

野狗尚且用乳房哺養牠們的幼兒；但我的眾民變得多麼殘忍，像曠野的鴕鳥一樣。

不，你只是漸漸地，藉著他們被擄與他們相爭；在吹東風的日子，就用暴風把他們逐去。

你必簸揚它們，風要把它們吹去，旋風也要把它們吹散；但你要靠耶和華喜樂，以以色列的聖者誇耀。

因此，萬軍之耶和華這樣說：“看哪！我要熬煉他們，試驗他們；因我子民（“我子民”原文作“我子民的女子”）的罪惡，我還可以作甚麼呢？

他手裡拿著簸箕，要揚淨麥場，把麥子收進倉裡，卻用不滅的火把糠秕燒盡。”

但這葡萄樹因神的烈怒被拔起，摔在地上；東風使它的果子枯乾散掉，粗壯的樹枝枯槁，被火吞滅。

我的眼淚像江河流下，都因我的人民的滅亡。

我眾民（“我眾民”原文作“我子民的女子”）的罪孽比所多瑪的罪惡更大；所多瑪在轉眼之間傾覆了，儘管無人攻擊它。

因此，他們必像早晨的雲霧，又如易逝的朝露，又像打穀場上的糠秕被旋風吹去，又像煙氣從煙囪上騰。

慈心的婦人親手烹煮自己所生的孩子；在我眾民（“我眾民”原文作“我子民的女子”）遭毀滅的時候，孩子竟成了母親的食物。

因此我說：“要轉開你們的眼，不要望著我，讓我痛哭吧！不要因我人民的毀滅，而急急安慰我。”
