城被攻破，城里的所有士兵便在夜间穿过御花园，从两城墙中间的门逃往亚拉巴。当时迦勒底人仍四面包围着城。迦勒底军队追赶西底迦，在耶利哥平原追上了他，他的军队都四散而逃。迦勒底人擒住西底迦，把他押到利比拉见巴比伦王，在那里审判他。巴比伦王在西底迦面前杀了他的众子，又剜去他的双眼，把他用铜链锁着押往巴比伦。巴比伦王尼布甲尼撒执政第十九年五月七日，他的臣仆——护卫长尼布撒拉旦来到耶路撒冷，放火焚烧耶和华的殿、王宫及城内所有的房屋。他烧毁了所有重要建筑。他率领的迦勒底军队拆毁了耶路撒冷四围的城墙。

巴比伦王以未·米罗达在他执政的元年十二月二十七日，即犹大王约雅斤被掳后第三十七年，施恩释放了约雅斤，并好言相待，使他的地位高过被掳到巴比伦的其他各王。约雅斤脱去了囚衣，终生与巴比伦王一起吃饭。在他有生之年，巴比伦王供应他每天的需用。

“你的嫔妃和儿女必被交给迦勒底人，你也逃不掉，必被巴比伦王所擒。这城也要被付之一炬。”

而迦勒底人必卷土重来，攻占这城，将它付之一炬。

“你去告诉犹大王西底迦，以色列的上帝耶和华说，‘看啊，我要把这城交在巴比伦王的手中，使它被付之一炬。你必逃不出巴比伦王的手心，你必在他面前受审，被带到巴比伦。

犹大王约雅斤及其母亲、臣仆和文官武将向尼布甲尼撒投降。巴比伦王尼布甲尼撒在他执政第八年俘虏了约雅斤，

尼甲·沙利薛、三甲·尼波、撒西金和另一个尼甲·沙利薛等巴比伦王的所有将领都进城坐在中门。

我要撒开网罗抓住他，把他带到巴比伦，审判他对我不忠的罪。他所有的精兵都要丧身刀下，余下的也要四散逃窜。这样，你们就知道这是我耶和华说的。

你这邪恶败坏的以色列首领啊！你的结局到了，审判你的日子来了。’主耶和华说，‘取下你的头巾，摘下你的冠冕吧，时局转变了。要提拔卑微的，贬抑高贵的。毁灭，毁灭，我要毁灭这国，使它荡然无存，直到那应得的人来到后，这国才能得到重建，我要把这国交给他。’

但迦勒底的军队追上来，在耶利哥的平原擒住西底迦，把他带到哈马的利比拉去见巴比伦王尼布甲尼撒，接受审判。巴比伦王在利比拉当着西底迦的面杀了他的众子和犹大所有的贵族，并且挖去他的双眼，把他用铜链锁着带到巴比伦。

我必撒开网罗捕捉他，把他带到迦勒底人的巴比伦。他必看不见那地方，却要死在那里。
