But when he reached the Benjamin Gate, the captain of the guard, whose name was Irijah son of Shelemiah, the son of Hananiah, arrested him and said,“ You are deserting to the Babylonians!”

He got as far as the Benjamin Gate. But the captain of the guard arrested him. He said,“ You are going over to the side of the Babylonians!” The captain’s name was Irijah, the son of Shelemiah. Shelemiah was the son of Hananiah.

When he was at the Benjamin Gate, a sentry there named Irijah the son of Shelemiah, son of Hananiah, seized Jeremiah the prophet, saying,“ You are deserting to the Chaldeans.”

But as he was walking through the Benjamin Gate, a sentry arrested him and said,“ You are defecting to the Babylonians!” The sentry making the arrest was Irijah son of Shelemiah, grandson of Hananiah.

But when he was at the Benjamin Gate, an officer of the guard was there, whose name was Irijah son of Shelemiah, son of Hananiah, and he apprehended the prophet Jeremiah, saying,“ You are defecting to the Chaldeans.”

While he was at the Gate of Benjamin, a captain of the guard whose name was Irijah, the son of Shelemiah the son of Hananiah was there; and he arrested Jeremiah the prophet, saying,“ You are deserting to the Chaldeans!”

And when he was in the Gate of Benjamin, a captain of the guard was there whose name was Irijah the son of Shelemiah, the son of Hananiah; and he seized Jeremiah the prophet, saying,“ You are defecting to the Chaldeans!”

And when he was in the gate of Benjamin, a captain of the ward was there, whose name was Irijah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Hananiah; and he laid hold on Jeremiah the prophet, saying, Thou art falling away to the Chaldeans.

But when he was at the Benjamin Gate, an officer of the guard was there, whose name was Irijah son of Shelemiah, son of Hananiah, and he apprehended Jeremiah the prophet, saying,“ You are deserting to the Chaldeans.”

And when he was in the gate of Benjamin, a captain of the ward[ was] there, whose name[ was] Irijah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Hananiah; and he took Jeremiah the prophet, saying, Thou fallest away to the Chaldeans.

But he only got as far as the Benjamin Gate. There an officer in charge of the guards named Irijah, who was the son of Shelemiah and the grandson of Hananiah, stopped him. He seized Jeremiah and said,“ You are deserting to the Babylonians!”

When he was in Benjamin’s gate, a captain of the guard was there, whose name was Irijah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Hananiah; and he seized Jeremiah the prophet, saying,“ You are defecting to the Chaldeans!”

王宮內豎古實人以伯米勒、聞人縋耶利米下井、知王坐於便雅憫門、

耶路撒冷南有臨門、自臨門至基巴有平原、厥後遍境必若是、耶路撒冷必將崛興、有人居處、自便雅憫門、至首建之門、延及邑隅之門、自哈拿業戍樓、至王之酒醡、

凡居斯邑者、必遇鋒刃饑饉、瘟疫而亡。凡出邑外、歸誠所攻爾之迦勒底人者、則得保其生命。

訟之曰、我觀此人及惑民者、禁納稅該撒、自稱為王基督也、

今訟我之事、彼無所據、

馬擔子示法提亞、巴述子其大利、示利米子猶甲、馬勒家子巴述、聞耶利米言、傳述於眾、

乃賄人使流言曰、我聞此人、僭妄摩西及上帝、

蓋見此人、乃惑民之徒、震動擾亂天下猶太人、為拿撒勒黨之首、彼欲犯殿、我儕執之、將按我律審之、惟千夫長呂西亞忽至、強甚、奪而曳之去、命訟者就爾、爾訊、可知我所訟諸端、猶太人從而和之曰、此言是也、

我聞眾民、訕謗我躬、隨在驚惶、彼此傳語、聲罪辱我、我之友朋、望我趑趄、云、或可誘而勝之、以雪我忿。

人曰、祭司有律例、智士有箴規、先知有預言、如耶利米其言不可信、予當批其頰、而謀害之。

王諭古實人以伯米勒曰、當召三十人、乘先知耶利米未死、出之於井。以伯米勒率眾、入王宮、於府庫中、取布之舊且敝者、繫之以繩、縋於井中、至耶利米所、告之曰、以舊且敝之布、裹此二繩、置於腋下。耶利米如言而行。於是人以繩曳耶利米、出之於井、使居外獄。西底家王遣人、召先知耶利米至耶和華殿第三院、詰之曰、我有一語問爾、必毋隱。耶利米奏西底家王曰、我告爾、爾必殺予、勸爾、爾必不聽。西底家王私誓、謂耶利米曰、我指賜我生命之耶和華而誓、必不殺爾、不付爾於敵手。耶利米乃奏西底家曰、萬有之主、以色列族之上帝耶和華云、如爾出邑、歸誠巴比倫王牧伯、則爾一家生命可保、斯邑不遭焚燬。

耶利米以斯言奏猶大王西底家云、汝當歸誠巴比倫之君民、負軛服事、則可得生。耶和華曾言、凡諸邦國、不肯服事巴比倫王、必以鋒刃、饑饉、瘟疫、使之淪喪今汝與民、何為自取死亡。

諸牧伯奏王曰、斯人所言、邑中武士百姓、無不喪膽、以若所云、於民不利、可殺之。

則詣王宮、入繕寫之室、見繕寫以利沙馬、示罵雅子地來雅、亞革破子利拿單、沙番子其馬哩、哈拿尼亞子西底家、諸牧伯、咸坐於彼、

我今以列邦予我僕、巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒、亦使野獸供役、

蓋我萬有之主、以色列族之上帝耶和華云、我以鐵軛、置於列邦、使彼服事巴比倫王、尼布甲尼撒、亦使野獸供其服役。
