Even if you were to defeat the entire Babylonian army that is attacking you and only wounded men were left in their tents, they would come out and burn this city down.”

Suppose you destroy all the armies of Babylon that are attacking you. Suppose only wounded men are left in their tents. Even then they will come out and burn down this city.’ ”

For even if you should defeat the whole army of Chaldeans who are fighting against you, and there remained of them only wounded men, every man in his tent, they would rise up and burn this city with fire.’”

Even if you were to destroy the entire Babylonian army, leaving only a handful of wounded survivors, they would still stagger from their tents and burn this city to the ground!”

至於你們剩下的人，我必使他們在仇敵之地膽戰心驚；風吹落葉也會嚇跑他們；他們必逃跑，好像逃避刀劍一樣；雖然無人追趕，他們卻跌倒。雖然無人追趕，他們卻像面臨刀劍，彼此撞跌；你們在仇敵面前，不能站立得住。你們要在萬國中滅亡；仇敵之地必吞滅你們。

一個敵人就可以威嚇你們一千個人，若五個敵人威嚇你們，你們都要逃跑了！以致你們所剩下的，必孤立如同山頂上的旗杆，岡陵上的旗幟。

但你要從你的墳墓中被逐出，好像一根被厭棄的樹枝，你被那些遭刀劍所殺的人掩蓋，就是那些被拋到坑中石頭那裡的人。你就像一具遭人踐踏的屍體。

‘耶和華以色列的神這樣說：看哪！我必使你們手中的武器，就是你們用來與城外圍困你們的巴比倫王和迦勒底人作戰的武器，轉回堆積在這城的中心。我必在怒氣、烈怒和忿怒中，用伸出來的手和強有力的膀臂，親自攻擊你們。我要擊打住在這城的人和牲畜，他們都要因極大的瘟疫而死。然後，我必把猶大王西底家和他的臣民，就是在這城裡經過瘟疫、刀劍之災和饑荒而倖存的人，都交在巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒和他們的仇敵，以及尋索他們性命的人的手中。尼布甲尼撒要用刀劍擊殺他們，絕不顧惜，不留情，不憐憫。’”這是耶和華的宣告。

迦勒底人必回來，攻擊這城，佔領這城，放火燒毀這城。’

因此，你們要聽耶和華籌謀對付巴比倫的計劃，和他為了攻擊迦勒底人的地所定下的策略。他們羊群中最小的也必被拉去，他們的牧場也必因臨到它們的災禍而荒廢。

你們只能屈身在被擄的人中間，或是仆倒在被殺的人中間。雖然這樣，耶和華的怒氣還沒有轉消，他的手仍然伸出。

耶和華在他的軍隊前頭發出聲音；他的隊伍極大，成就他話語的，是強盛的人。耶和華的日子偉大，非常可畏，誰能忍受得住呢？

凡被追上的，必被刺死；凡被捉住的，必倒在刀下。

因此，你們要聽耶和華籌謀對付以東的計劃，和他為了提幔的居民所定下的策略。他們羊群中最小的也必被拉去，他們的牧場也必因臨到它們的災禍而荒廢。

它的全軍必在迦勒底人的地被殺倒下，在它的街道上被刺死。”
