Whenever Jehudi had read three or four columns of the scroll, the king cut them off with a scribe’s knife and threw them into the firepot, until the entire scroll was burned in the fire.

Jehudi read three or four sections from the scroll. Then the king cut them off with a secretary’s knife. He threw them into the fire pot. He did that until the entire scroll was burned up in the fire.

As Jehudi read three or four columns, the king would cut them off with a knife and throw them into the fire in the fire pot, until the entire scroll was consumed in the fire that was in the fire pot.

Each time Jehudi finished reading three or four columns, the king took a knife and cut off that section of the scroll. He then threw it into the fire, section by section, until the whole scroll was burned up.

And it came to pass,[ that] when Jehudi had read three or four leaves, he cut it with the penknife, and cast[ it] into the fire that[ was] on the hearth, until all the roll was consumed in the fire that[ was] on the hearth.

As soon as Jehudi had read three or four columns of the scroll, the king would cut them off with a penknife and throw them on the fire in the firepot. He kept doing so until the whole scroll was burned up in the fire.

以色列王回答說：「這裡還有一個人，是音拉的兒子米該雅，我們可以託他求問耶和華。可是我厭惡他，因為他給我的預言都是有凶無吉。」約沙法說：「王不要這樣說。」

你們這些好譏諷、在耶路撒冷統管百姓的人啊，要聽耶和華的話。你們說：「我們已經和死亡立約，與陰間結盟。災難席捲而來的時候，我們會安然無恙，因為我們以謊言為庇護所，以詭詐為藏身處。」

蔑視訓言，自招滅亡；敬畏誡命，必得賞賜。

不接受我的勸誡，又藐視我的責備。

那些用虛假作繩子扯來罪惡，用套繩拉來邪惡的人有禍了！他們說：「讓上帝快點完成祂的工作，好讓我們看看；讓以色列的聖者早點實現祂的計劃，好讓我們知道。」

告訴他們，『王說，要把這人關在監牢，只給他一些餅和水，直到我平安地回來。』」

人心中有許多計劃，唯耶和華的旨意成就。

任何智慧、悟性和謀略，都不能對抗耶和華。

免得有人聽了這誓言後，心存僥倖地說，『即使我一意孤行，連累他人，也必平安無事。』耶和華絕不會赦免這樣的人，祂必向這樣的人發烈怒，使記在這書上的一切咒詛臨到他身上，從世上抹去他的名字。耶和華必把他從以色列各支派中隔離出來，使他按律法書上約中的一切咒詛受懲罰。

我必以公平為準繩，以公義作線錘。冰雹必砸碎你們虛謊的庇護所，洪水必淹沒你們的藏身處。你們和死亡所立的約必被廢棄，與陰間的結盟必不能長久。災難席捲而來的時候，你們必遭毀滅。災難必不分晝夜、日復一日地掃過，每次掃過都必將你們擄去。」明白這信息的人都必驚恐萬分。你們的床太小，不能舒身；你們的被子太窄，不足裹身。耶和華必像在毗拉心山一樣挺身而出，像在基遍谷一樣發怒，要完成祂奇異的作為，成就祂不尋常的工作。現在你們不要再譏諷了，以免捆綁你們的繩索勒得更緊，因為我已從主——萬軍之耶和華那裡聽到毀滅全國的諭旨。

你憎惡我的管教，把我的話拋在腦後。

如果有人從這預言書上刪減什麼，上帝必使他無份於這書上所記載的生命樹和聖城。

說：「我為何厭惡教誨，心裡藐視責備！

論到猶大王約雅敬，你要這樣寫，『耶和華說，你把卷軸燒掉，還說為什麼上面寫著巴比倫王必來毀滅這地方和其中的人畜。所以耶和華說，猶大王約雅敬啊，你的子孫沒有一人能登大衛的寶座，你的屍體必被棄之荒野，遭受烈日的暴曬和夜霜的侵襲。我要因你、你後裔和你臣僕的罪惡而懲罰你們。因為你們不聽我的警告，我要給你們以及耶路撒冷和猶大的居民降下我說過的災禍。』」

屢教不改、頑固不化者，必突然滅亡，無可挽救。
