王就派猶底去把卷軸取來，猶底便從書記以利沙瑪的房間取來卷軸，讀給王和侍立在王周圍的官長聽。

他又告訴王：「希勒迦祭司給了我一卷書。」沙番就在王面前誦讀這書。

我派你到那些頑固不化的人那裡，向他們宣告，『主耶和華這樣說。』不管那群叛逆的人聽不聽，他們都會知道有一位先知在他們當中。

沙番書記又對王說：「希勒迦祭司交給我一卷書。」沙番就在王面前誦讀這書。

「這是耶和華說的，『你要站在我殿的院子裡，把我吩咐你的話一字不漏地告訴從猶大各城前來敬拜的人。

讓做夢的先知儘管宣揚他們的夢吧，但得到我話語的先知要忠心地傳達我的話。糠秕怎能與麥子相比呢！這是耶和華說的。」

他們請他坐下，把卷軸讀給他們聽。巴錄就讀給他們聽。
