耶和華啊，我與你爭辯的時候，你總是顯為義；但有一件，我還要與你理論：惡人的道路為何亨通呢？大行詭詐的為何得安逸呢？

應當一無掛慮，只要凡事藉着禱告、祈求和感謝，將你們所要的告訴上帝。上帝所賜那超越人所能了解的平安，必在基督耶穌裏，保守你們的心懷意念。

雅各說：「耶和華－我祖父亞伯拉罕的上帝，我父親以撒的上帝啊，你曾對我說：『回你本地本族去，我要厚待你。』你向僕人所施的一切慈愛和信實，我一點也不配得。我先前只用我的一根杖過這約旦河，如今我卻成了兩隊。求你救我脫離我哥哥的手，脫離以掃的手，因為我怕他來殺我，連母親和兒女都不放過。你曾說：『我必定厚待你，使你的後裔如同海邊的沙，多得不可勝數。』」

他們必說：『這荒蕪之地，現在成了像伊甸園一樣；這荒涼、荒廢、毀壞的城鎮，現今堅固，有人居住。』那時，在你們四圍其餘的列國必知道，我－耶和華修造那毀壞之處，開墾那荒蕪之地。我－耶和華說了這話，就必成就。「主耶和華如此說：我要回應以色列家的求問，成全他們，增添他們的人數，使他們多如羊羣。

於是大衛王進去，坐在耶和華面前，說：「主耶和華啊，我是誰，我的家算甚麼，你竟帶領我到這地步呢？主耶和華啊，這在你眼中還看為小，你又說到你僕人的家將來的情況。主耶和華啊，這豈是人的常理嗎？大衛還有甚麼可以對你說呢？主耶和華啊，你是知道你僕人的。你行這一切大事，使你的僕人明白，是因你應許的緣故，也照着你的心意。因此，主耶和華啊，你本為大；照我們耳中一切所聽見的，沒有可比你的，除你以外再沒有上帝。誰像你的百姓以色列呢？上帝親自去救贖世上的一國，作自己的子民，顯出他的大名；為了你的地，從列國和他們的神明中，在你親自從埃及贖出來的子民面前，為自己行了大而可畏的事。你曾堅立你的百姓以色列作你的子民，直到永遠；你－耶和華也作他們的上帝。現在，耶和華上帝啊，你所應許僕人和僕人家的話，求你堅定，直到永遠；求你照你所說的而行。
