非若昔與其祖所立之約、在我援手導彼出伊及地之時、我雖為其主、彼仍違背此約、或作昔我援手導其列祖出伊及之時與彼立約我雖為其主彼仍爽我約今所立之約必不若是此乃主所言、

and in the wilderness, where you have seen how the Lord your God carried you, as a man carries his son, all the way that you went until you came to this place.’

Not with our fathers did the Lord make this covenant, but with us, who are all of us here alive today.

And Moses took half of the blood and put it in basins, and half of the blood he threw against the altar.Then he took the Book of the Covenant and read it in the hearing of the people. And they said,“ All that the Lord has spoken we will do, and we will be obedient.”And Moses took the blood and threw it on the people and said,“ Behold the blood of the covenant that the Lord has made with you in accordance with all these words.”

Now therefore, if you will indeed obey my voice and keep my covenant, you shall be my treasured possession among all peoples, for all the earth is mine;

“ When I passed by you again and saw you, behold, you were at the age for love, and I spread the corner of my garment over you and covered your nakedness; I made my vow to you and entered into a covenant with you, declares the Lord God, and you became mine.

Therefore not even the first covenant was inaugurated without blood.For when every commandment of the law had been declared by Moses to all the people, he took the blood of calves and goats, with water and scarlet wool and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book itself and all the people,saying,“ This is the blood of the covenant that God commanded for you.”And in the same way he sprinkled with the blood both the tent and all the vessels used in worship.Indeed, under the law almost everything is purified with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins.

The one who has the bride is the bridegroom. The friend of the bridegroom, who stands and hears him, rejoices greatly at the bridegroom’s voice. Therefore this joy of mine is now complete.

And the Lord said to me,“ Go again, love a woman who is loved by another man and is an adulteress, even as the Lord loves the children of Israel, though they turn to other gods and love cakes of raisins.”

“ For thus says the Lord God: I will deal with you as you have done, you who have despised the oath in breaking the covenant,yet I will remember my covenant with you in the days of your youth, and I will establish for you an everlasting covenant.Then you will remember your ways and be ashamed when you take your sisters, both your elder and your younger, and I give them to you as daughters, but not on account of the covenant with you.I will establish my covenant with you, and you shall know that I am the Lord,

if you spurn my statutes, and if your soul abhors my rules, so that you will not do all my commandments, but break my covenant,

“ Go and proclaim in the hearing of Jerusalem, Thus says the Lord,“ I remember the devotion of your youth, your love as a bride, how you followed me in the wilderness, in a land not sown.

I will make you pass under the rod, and I will bring you into the bond of the covenant.

“ At that time, declares the Lord, I will be the God of all the clans of Israel, and they shall be my people.”

When Israel was a child, I loved him, and out of Egypt I called my son.

‘ At the end of seven years each of you must set free the fellow Hebrew who has been sold to you and has served you six years; you must set him free from your service.’ But your fathers did not listen to me or incline their ears to me.

who caused his glorious arm to go at the right hand of Moses, who divided the waters before them to make for himself an everlasting name,who led them through the depths? Like a horse in the desert, they did not stumble.Like livestock that go down into the valley, the Spirit of the Lord gave them rest. So you led your people, to make for yourself a glorious name.

The earth lies defiled under its inhabitants; for they have transgressed the laws, violated the statutes, broken the everlasting covenant.

And they will answer,“ Because they have forsaken the covenant of the Lord their God and worshiped other gods and served them.”’”

For I feel a divine jealousy for you, since I betrothed you to one husband, to present you as a pure virgin to Christ.

“ Plead with your mother, plead— for she is not my wife, and I am not her husband— that she put away her whoring from her face, and her adultery from between her breasts;

Oholah was the name of the elder and Oholibah the name of her sister. They became mine, and they bore sons and daughters. As for their names, Oholah is Samaria, and Oholibah is Jerusalem.

And the Lord said to Moses,“ Behold, you are about to lie down with your fathers. Then this people will rise and whore after the foreign gods among them in the land that they are entering, and they will forsake me and break my covenant that I have made with them.

Who is that coming up from the wilderness, leaning on her beloved? Under the apple tree I awakened you. There your mother was in labor with you; there she who bore you was in labor.

These are the words of the covenant that the Lord commanded Moses to make with the people of Israel in the land of Moab, besides the covenant that he had made with them at Horeb.

Yet it was I who taught Ephraim to walk; I took them up by their arms, but they did not know that I healed them.I led them with cords of kindness, with the bands of love, and I became to them as one who eases the yoke on their jaws, and I bent down to them and fed them.

There was nothing in the ark except the two tablets of stone that Moses put there at Horeb, where the Lord made a covenant with the people of Israel, when they came out of the land of Egypt.

Nevertheless, I am continually with you; you hold my right hand.

And he took the blind man by the hand and led him out of the village, and when he had spit on his eyes and laid his hands on him, he asked him,“ Do you see anything?”

For your Maker is your husband, the Lord of hosts is his name; and the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer, the God of the whole earth he is called.

For I, the Lord your God, hold your right hand; it is I who say to you,“ Fear not, I am the one who helps you.”

And the Lord will single him out from all the tribes of Israel for calamity, in accordance with all the curses of the covenant written in this Book of the Law.
