背叛之以色列、因行淫為我所逐、予以離書、其妹悖逆之猶大仍不畏懼、亦復行淫、我悉鑒察、

I gave faithless Israel her certificate of divorce and sent her away because of all her adulteries. Yet I saw that her unfaithful sister Judah had no fear; she also went out and committed adultery.

I gave Israel their letter of divorce. I sent them away because they were unfaithful to me so many times. But I saw that their sister nation Judah did not have any respect for me. They were not faithful to me either. They also went out and committed adultery with other gods.

She saw that for all the adulteries of that faithless one, Israel, I had sent her away with a decree of divorce. Yet her treacherous sister Judah did not fear, but she too went and played the whore.

She saw that I divorced faithless Israel because of her adultery. But that treacherous sister Judah had no fear, and now she, too, has left me and given herself to prostitution.

I observed that it was because unfaithful Israel had committed adultery that I had sent her away and had given her a certificate of divorce. Nevertheless, her treacherous sister Judah was not afraid but also went and prostituted herself.

And I saw that for all the adulteries of faithless Israel, I had sent her away and given her a certificate of divorce, yet her treacherous sister Judah did not fear; but she went and prostituted herself also.

Then I saw that for all the causes for which backsliding Israel had committed adultery, I had put her away and given her a certificate of divorce; yet her treacherous sister Judah did not fear, but went and played the harlot also.

And I saw, when, for this very cause that backsliding Israel had committed adultery, I had put her away and given her a bill of divorcement, yet treacherous Judah her sister feared not; but she also went and played the harlot.

I observed that it was because unfaithful Israel had committed adultery that I had sent her away and had given her a certificate of divorce. Nevertheless, her treacherous sister Judah was not afraid but also went and prostituted herself.

And I saw, when for all the causes whereby backsliding Israel committed adultery I had put her away, and given her a bill of divorce; yet her treacherous sister Judah feared not, but went and played the harlot also.

She also saw that I gave wayward Israel her divorce papers and sent her away because of her adulterous worship of other gods. Even after her unfaithful sister Judah had seen this, she still was not afraid, and she too went and gave herself like a prostitute to other gods.

I saw when, for this very cause, that backsliding Israel had committed adultery, I had put her away and given her a certificate of divorce, yet treacherous Judah, her sister, had no fear; but she also went and played the prostitute.

人娶妻後、知妻有疵、而厭棄之、則作離書、付於其手、出之可也。

有言出妻、任其他適、既出勿納、恐斯邦染其污衊。耶和華曰、惟爾縱欲背予、崇事他上帝、今使爾歸試於我、

耶和華告以色列族曰、爾母見出、必有離書、離書云何、爾身見鬻、必有所償、所償伊誰、爾母見出、爾身見鬻、乃罪應爾。

何西王九年、亞述陷撒馬利亞、擄以色列族、至亞述地置於坷散河旁之哈臘、哈拔、及米太族諸邑。昔以色列族之上帝耶和華、導民出埃及、脫於法老之手、厥後以色列族獲罪於耶和華寅畏他上帝。耶和華驅逐異邦人、所遺之禮儀、民從之、以色列列王所擅立之禮儀、民亦從之、私行非義於其上帝耶和華前、自戍樓以至邑垣、悉建崇坵、高岡之巔茂林之下、立諸偶像、從耶和華所驅之異邦人、在諸崇坵、焚香行諸惡事、干耶和華震怒、犯耶和華禁、役事偶像。耶和華遣其先知先見者、責以色列猶大二族、曰、當棄惡行、守我禁令禮儀、從我所命諸先知、傳爾列祖之律例、斯民弗聽、強項不馴、不信其上帝耶和華、與列祖無異。昔上帝與列祖立約、斯民背之、棄其所命、違其禮儀、崇事虛無、亦為放誕、四周之異邦人、耶和華曾命、勿效其尤、彼不聽從、反崇信焉、棄其上帝耶和華之命、鑄二金犢、樹立木偶、崇拜天象、奉事巴力、焚獻子女、專用卜筮、維惡是務、干耶和華震怒。故耶和華怒以色列族、驅於其前、靡有孑遺、所餘者惟猶大族而已。猶大族亦不守其上帝耶和華之誡命、從以色列族所擅立之禮儀。

故我付之於所懽亞述人手、

當告爾母、彼非我妻、我非其夫、彼當去淫行、勿為男擁抱、恐我去其衣、若初生之日、置之曠野、地無勺水、口渴而死、

以色列族縱欲行淫、猶大族勿效其尤、勿詣吉甲、勿至伯亞文、否則猶謂崇敬我耶和華可乎。以色列族若崛強之牛、退縮不前、我耶和華必放之曠野、若無牧之羔、以法蓮族專事偶像、我始聽之、

如其後夫亦不見悅、作離書付於其手而出之、或其後夫死亡。

厥妹亞何利巴見此、則狥欲行淫、較姊尤甚。戀愛鄰邦亞述人、顯爵之宦、有能之輩、岐嶷男子、乘馬盛服而至。我見其被玷與姊無異、亞何利巴增其惡行、見迦勒底人像、繪於墻壁、塗以丹艧、佩博帶、冠華冠、俱若軍長、迦勒底之巴比倫所出、見則懽然、遣使至迦勒底、巴比倫人就之、登榻行淫、婦既被玷、則厭其所懽、彼狥欲行淫若此。我則憾之、與憾其姊無異。亞何利巴更增淫行、當其盛年、在埃及穢德彰聞、至於今日、惡念依然陡起、戀其所懽、其體雄偉、無異驢焉、壯時在埃及行淫、任男擁抱、至於今日、惡念依然陡起。

耶和華曰、彼在吉甲、所作不端、為我深憾、因其惡行、牧伯違命、我將驅之於我室、不加眷顧。以法蓮族遭難、其根已槁、不復結果、雖產愛子、我將殄絕、彼不聽余、故我棄之、使之流離於異域。

以色列族無王公、無祭祀、無公服、不奉雕柱、不事偶像、

爾視其所為、尚為細故、效其愆尤、猶為不足、更作不義、深堪痛疾。
