我見其所為、欲其歸誠、惟彼不從、其與猶大族、親若姊妹、猶大族效尤、屢欺侮予。

彼行此後、我命之曰、爾當歸誠於我、惟彼不從、悖逆之猶大與以色列有若姊妹、此事猶大亦見之、

I thought that after she had done all this she would return to me but she did not, and her unfaithful sister Judah saw it.

I thought that after they had done all this, they would return to me. But they did not. Their sister nation Judah saw them doing this. And they were not faithful to me either.

And I thought,‘ After she has done all this she will return to me,’ but she did not return, and her treacherous sister Judah saw it.

I thought: After she has done all these things, she will return to Me. But she didn’t return, and her treacherous sister Judah saw it.

Yet even after she had done all that, I thought that she might come back to me. But she did not. Her sister, unfaithful Judah, saw what she did.

I said after she had done all these things,‘ She will return to me;’ but she didn’t return; and her treacherous sister Judah saw it.

And thine elder sister[ is] Samaria, she and her daughters that dwell at thy left hand: and thy younger sister, that dwelleth at thy right hand,[ is] Sodom and her daughters.

So the posts went with the letters from the king and his princes throughout all Israel and Judah, and according to the commandment of the king, saying, Ye children of Israel, turn again unto the LORD God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, and he will return to the remnant of you, that are escaped out of the hand of the kings of Assyria.And be not ye like your fathers, and like your brethren, which trespassed against the LORD God of their fathers,[ who] therefore gave them up to desolation, as ye see.Now be ye not stiffnecked, as your fathers[ were, but] yield yourselves unto the LORD, and enter into his sanctuary, which he hath sanctified for ever: and serve the LORD your God, that the fierceness of his wrath may turn away from you.For if ye turn again unto the LORD, your brethren and your children[ shall find] compassion before them that lead them captive, so that they shall come again into this land: for the LORD your God[ is] gracious and merciful, and will not turn away[ his] face from you, if ye return unto him.So the posts passed from city to city through the country of Ephraim and Manasseh even unto Zebulun: but they laughed them to scorn, and mocked them.Nevertheless divers of Asher and Manasseh and of Zebulun humbled themselves, and came to Jerusalem.Also in Judah the hand of God was to give them one heart to do the commandment of the king and of the princes, by the word of the LORD.

Yet the LORD testified against Israel, and against Judah, by all the prophets,[ and by] all the seers, saying, Turn ye from your evil ways, and keep my commandments[ and] my statutes, according to all the law which I commanded your fathers, and which I sent to you by my servants the prophets.Notwithstanding they would not hear, but hardened their necks, like to the neck of their fathers, that did not believe in the LORD their God.

Come, and let us return unto the LORD: for he hath torn, and he will heal us; he hath smitten, and he will bind us up.After two days will he revive us: in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight.Then shall we know,[ if] we follow on to know the LORD: his going forth is prepared as the morning; and he shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter[ and] former rain unto the earth.O Ephraim, what shall I do unto thee? O Judah, what shall I do unto thee? for your goodness[ is] as a morning cloud, and as the early dew it goeth away.

O Israel, return unto the LORD thy God; for thou hast fallen by thine iniquity.

And I saw, when for all the causes whereby backsliding Israel committed adultery I had put her away, and given her a bill of divorce; yet her treacherous sister Judah feared not, but went and played the harlot also.And it came to pass through the lightness of her whoredom, that she defiled the land, and committed adultery with stones and with stocks.And yet for all this her treacherous sister Judah hath not turned unto me with her whole heart, but feignedly, saith the LORD.And the LORD said unto me, The backsliding Israel hath justified herself more than treacherous Judah.

Son of man, there were two women, the daughters of one mother:And they committed whoredoms in Egypt; they committed whoredoms in their youth: there were their breasts pressed, and there they bruised the teats of their virginity.And the names of them[ were] Aholah the elder, and Aholibah her sister: and they were mine, and they bare sons and daughters. Thus[ were] their names; Samaria[ is] Aholah, and Jerusalem Aholibah.
