Also, seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the Lord for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper.”

Also work for the success of the city I have sent you to. Pray to the Lord for that city. If it succeeds, you too will enjoy success.”

But seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you into exile, and pray to the Lord on its behalf, for in its welfare you will find your welfare.

And work for the peace and prosperity of the city where I sent you into exile. Pray to the Lord for it, for its welfare will determine your welfare.”

Pursue the well-being of the city I have deported you to. Pray to the LORD on its behalf, for when it thrives, you will thrive.”

Seek the prosperity of the city where I have sent you into exile, and pray to the Lord in its behalf; for in its prosperity will be your prosperity.’

And seek the peace of the city where I have caused you to be carried away captive, and pray to the Lord for it; for in its peace you will have peace.

我劝你首先要为所有的人恳求、祷告、代求，为他们感谢上帝。也要为所有的君王和掌权者祷告，使我们可以怀着虔诚、端正的心过和平安宁的生活。

好让他们向天上的上帝献上蒙悦纳的祭物，并为王和众王子求寿。

不论天上的上帝为祂的殿有何要求，都要认真办理，以免祂的烈怒临到王及众王子的国。

但以理，又名伯提沙撒，一时非常惊讶，惶恐不安。王说：“伯提沙撒啊，不要因为这梦和梦的意思而惶恐不安。”伯提沙撒回答说：“我主啊，愿这梦发生在恨你的人身上，梦的意思应验在你的仇敌身上。

为主的缘故，你们要服从人间的一切权柄，不管是居首位的君王，还是被君王派来赏善罚恶的官员。因为上帝的旨意是要你们行善，使那些愚昧无知的人哑口无言。你们是自由的人，不要以自由为借口去犯罪作恶，要做上帝的奴仆。要尊重所有的人，爱主内的弟兄姊妹，敬畏上帝，尊敬君王。

王啊，请接受我的劝谏，你要秉公行义，以断绝罪恶；怜悯穷人，以除掉罪过。这样，你的国运也许可以延续。”

所以，你们必须服从，不单是为了避免受到惩罚，也是为了良心无愧。

人人都要服从政府的权柄，因为所有的权柄都是出于上帝。现存的政权都是上帝设立的。

于是，其他总长和总督想在但以理的政务中找把柄控告他，却找不到任何把柄或过失，因为他诚实可靠，毫无过失。最后他们说：“除非我们从但以理上帝的律法下手，否则找不到指控他的把柄。”
