示劍對他父親哈抹說：「求你為我聘這女孩為妻。」

他們就為利百加祝福，對她說：「我們的妹妹啊，願你作千萬人的母親！願你的後裔得着仇敵的城門！」

他上來告訴他父母說：「我在亭拿看見一個女子，是非利士人的女兒，現在請你們給我娶她為妻。」

若有人認為自己待他的女兒不合宜，女兒也過了適婚年齡，他可以隨意處理，不算有罪，讓兩人結婚就是了。倘若有人心裏堅定，沒有不得已的事，並且由得自己作主，心裏又決定了不讓女兒結婚，這樣做也好。這樣看來，讓自己的女兒結婚固然是好，不讓她結婚更好。

所以，我希望年輕的寡婦嫁人，生養兒女，治理家務，不讓敵人有辱罵的把柄，
