彼在以色列中、行愚妄之事、淫其鄰之妻、偽託我名、言我所未命者、我知之、亦證之、耶和華言之矣、○

因彼作惡於以色列族、淫人婦女。又藉我名、誘惑民人、違予所命、我耶和華鑒察之矣。

For they have done outrageous things in Israel; they have committed adultery with their neighbors’ wives, and in my name they have uttered lies— which I did not authorize. I know it and am a witness to it,” declares the Lord.

That will happen because they have done awful things in Israel. They have committed adultery with their neighbors’ wives. They have spoken lies in my name. I did not give them the authority to speak those things. I know what they have done. And I am a witness to it,” announces the Lord.

在耶路撒冷的先知中，我看見可怕的事。他們犯姦淫，行事虛假，堅固惡人的手，以致沒有人離棄惡行；在我看來，他們都像所多瑪人，耶路撒冷的居民也像蛾摩拉人一樣。”

萬軍之耶和華說：“我必臨近你們施行審判；我要快快指證那些行邪術的、犯姦淫的、起假誓的、在工錢上欺壓雇工的、欺壓孤兒寡婦的、屈枉寄居的和不敬畏我的。”

被造的在神面前沒有一樣不是顯明的，萬有在他的眼前都是赤露敞開的；我們必須向他交帳。

“萬軍之耶和華以色列的神這樣說：‘不要被你們中間的先知和作占卜的欺騙，也不要聽信自己所作的夢（“自己所作的夢”原文作“你們的夢，就是你們所促使作的夢”，有古抄本作“他們所作的夢”）。因為他們冒我名對你們說虛假的預言，我並沒有差派他們。’這是耶和華的宣告。

“因為我的眼察看他們所行的一切；在我面前這一切都無法隱藏，他們的罪孽不能從我眼前遮掩起來。

“萬軍之耶和華以色列的神這樣說：‘論到冒我的名向你們說虛假預言的哥賴雅的兒子亞哈和瑪西雅的兒子西底家，我要把他們交在巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒的手中，他要在你們眼前擊殺他們。

因為人的道路都在耶和華眼前，他也審察人的一切路徑。

“我沒有差派這些先知，但他們自己到處跑；我沒有對他們說話，他們竟擅自說預言。

“你要寫信給在老底嘉教會的使者，說：‘那位阿們的，忠信真實的見證人，神創造萬有的根源，這樣說：

難道我只是近處的神嗎？不也是遠處的神嗎？”這是耶和華的宣告。“人怎能躲藏在隱密處，以致我看不見他呢？（這是耶和華的宣告）。我豈不是充滿天地嗎？”這是耶和華的宣告。

又從那信實的見證人、死人中首先復生的、地上眾君王的統治者耶穌基督臨到你們。他愛我們，用自己的血把我們從我們的罪中釋放出來，

你們怎可偷盜、兇殺、姦淫、起假誓、向巴力燒香，跟從你們素不認識的別神，然後來到這稱為我名下的殿，站在我面前，說：‘我們安全啦！’你們這樣就可以行這一切可憎的事嗎？

但神對惡人說：“你怎麼敢述說我的律例，你的口怎麼敢提到我的約呢？至於你，你憎恨管教，並且把我的話丟在背後。你看見盜賊的時候，就樂於和他在一起；你又與行淫的人有分。

尤其是那些隨從肉體，生活在污穢的私慾中，和輕蔑當權的，更是這樣。他們膽大任性，毫無畏懼地毀謗在尊位的。就是天使，雖有更大的力量與權能，尚且不用毀謗的話在主面前控告他們。但這些人，好像沒有理性的牲畜，生下來就是給人捉去宰殺的；他們毀謗自己所不知道的事，必在自己的敗壞中滅亡。他們行不義，就得了不義的工價。他們在白晝縱情作樂，滿了污點與瑕疵，和你們一同吃飯的時候，就因自己的詭詐而沾沾自喜。他們滿眼淫色，而且不住地犯罪。他們引誘心志不堅固的人。他們的心習慣了貪婪，是應當受咒詛的族類。他們離棄正路，走入歧途，跟從了比珥的兒子巴蘭的道路。這巴蘭貪愛不義的工價，他曾經因著自己的過犯受了責備：不能說話的驢，竟用人的聲音說出話來，制止了這先知的狂妄。這些人是無水的泉源，是暴風催逼的霧氣，有漆黑的幽暗為他們存留。因為他們說虛妄誇大的話，用肉體的私慾和邪蕩的事，引誘那些剛剛逃脫了錯謬生活的人。他們應許給人自由，自己卻作了敗壞的奴僕；因為人給誰制伏了，就作誰的奴僕。

你們還問：“為甚麼呢？”因為耶和華在你和你年輕時所娶的妻子中間作證；她是你的伴侶，是你立約的妻子，你竟對她不忠！

你的姦淫，你淫蕩的叫聲，你邪淫的惡行，在山上，在田野間，你那些可憎的事我都看見了。耶路撒冷啊，你有禍了！你這樣不潔淨要到幾時呢？”

雖然是這樣，這些醉生夢死的人還是照樣玷污身體，藐視主權，毀謗尊榮。就是天使長米迦勒為了摩西的屍體與魔鬼爭論的時候，尚且不敢用毀謗的話定他的罪，只說：“主責備你！”但這些人毀謗他們所不知道的，他們只知道按本性所能領悟的事，好像沒有理性的禽獸，就在這些事上敗壞了自己。他們有禍了，因為他們走上了該隱的道路，又為了財利闖進巴蘭的歧途，並且在可拉的背叛中滅亡了。

城中的先知都是輕浮詭詐的人；城中的祭司褻瀆聖物，違犯律法。
