For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord.For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.“ For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return there but water the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater,so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.“ For you shall go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and the hills before you shall break forth into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.

The counsel of the Lord stands forever, the plans of his heart to all generations.

You have multiplied, O Lord my God, your wondrous deeds and your thoughts toward us; none can compare with you! I will proclaim and tell of them, yet they are more than can be told.

But they do not know the thoughts of the Lord; they do not understand his plan, that he has gathered them as sheaves to the threshing floor.

But he is unchangeable, and who can turn him back? What he desires, that he does.

It is good that one should wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.

declaring the end from the beginning and from ancient times things not yet done, saying,‘ My counsel shall stand, and I will accomplish all my purpose,’calling a bird of prey from the east, the man of my counsel from a far country. I have spoken, and I will bring it to pass; I have purposed, and I will do it.

“ For thus says the Lord God: Behold, I, I myself will search for my sheep and will seek them out.As a shepherd seeks out his flock when he is among his sheep that have been scattered, so will I seek out my sheep, and I will rescue them from all places where they have been scattered on a day of clouds and thick darkness.And I will bring them out from the peoples and gather them from the countries, and will bring them into their own land. And I will feed them on the mountains of Israel, by the ravines, and in all the inhabited places of the country.I will feed them with good pasture, and on the mountain heights of Israel shall be their grazing land. There they shall lie down in good grazing land, and on rich pasture they shall feed on the mountains of Israel.I myself will be the shepherd of my sheep, and I myself will make them lie down, declares the Lord God.I will seek the lost, and I will bring back the strayed, and I will bind up the injured, and I will strengthen the weak, and the fat and the strong I will destroy. I will feed them in justice.“ As for you, my flock, thus says the Lord God: Behold, I judge between sheep and sheep, between rams and male goats.Is it not enough for you to feed on the good pasture, that you must tread down with your feet the rest of your pasture; and to drink of clear water, that you must muddy the rest of the water with your feet?And must my sheep eat what you have trodden with your feet, and drink what you have muddied with your feet?“ Therefore, thus says the Lord God to them: Behold, I, I myself will judge between the fat sheep and the lean sheep.Because you push with side and shoulder, and thrust at all the weak with your horns, till you have scattered them abroad,I will rescue my flock; they shall no longer be a prey. And I will judge between sheep and sheep.And I will set up over them one shepherd, my servant David, and he shall feed them: he shall feed them and be their shepherd.And I, the Lord, will be their God, and my servant David shall be prince among them. I am the Lord; I have spoken.“ I will make with them a covenant of peace and banish wild beasts from the land, so that they may dwell securely in the wilderness and sleep in the woods.And I will make them and the places all around my hill a blessing, and I will send down the showers in their season; they shall be showers of blessing.And the trees of the field shall yield their fruit, and the earth shall yield its increase, and they shall be secure in their land. And they shall know that I am the Lord, when I break the bars of their yoke, and deliver them from the hand of those who enslaved them.They shall no more be a prey to the nations, nor shall the beasts of the land devour them. They shall dwell securely, and none shall make them afraid.And I will provide for them renowned plantations so that they shall no more be consumed with hunger in the land, and no longer suffer the reproach of the nations.And they shall know that I am the Lord their God with them, and that they, the house of Israel, are my people, declares the Lord God.And you are my sheep, human sheep of my pasture, and I am your God, declares the Lord God.”

Go, and proclaim these words toward the north, and say,“‘ Return, faithless Israel, declares the Lord. I will not look on you in anger, for I am merciful, declares the Lord; I will not be angry forever.Only acknowledge your guilt, that you rebelled against the Lord your God and scattered your favors among foreigners under every green tree, and that you have not obeyed my voice, declares the Lord.Return, O faithless children, declares the Lord; for I am your master; I will take you, one from a city and two from a family, and I will bring you to Zion.“‘ And I will give you shepherds after my own heart, who will feed you with knowledge and understanding.And when you have multiplied and been fruitful in the land, in those days, declares the Lord, they shall no more say,“ The ark of the covenant of the Lord.” It shall not come to mind or be remembered or missed; it shall not be made again.At that time Jerusalem shall be called the throne of the Lord, and all nations shall gather to it, to the presence of the Lord in Jerusalem, and they shall no more stubbornly follow their own evil heart.In those days the house of Judah shall join the house of Israel, and together they shall come from the land of the north to the land that I gave your fathers for a heritage.“‘ I said, How I would set you among my sons, and give you a pleasant land, a heritage most beautiful of all nations. And I thought you would call me, My Father, and would not turn from following me.

“ At that time, declares the Lord, I will be the God of all the clans of Israel, and they shall be my people.”Thus says the Lord:“ The people who survived the sword found grace in the wilderness; when Israel sought for rest,the Lord appeared to him from far away. I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore I have continued my faithfulness to you.Again I will build you, and you shall be built, O virgin Israel! Again you shall adorn yourself with tambourines and shall go forth in the dance of the merrymakers.Again you shall plant vineyards on the mountains of Samaria; the planters shall plant and shall enjoy the fruit.For there shall be a day when watchmen will call in the hill country of Ephraim:‘ Arise, and let us go up to Zion, to the Lord our God.’”For thus says the Lord:“ Sing aloud with gladness for Jacob, and raise shouts for the chief of the nations; proclaim, give praise, and say,‘ O Lord, save your people, the remnant of Israel.’Behold, I will bring them from the north country and gather them from the farthest parts of the earth, among them the blind and the lame, the pregnant woman and she who is in labor, together; a great company, they shall return here.With weeping they shall come, and with pleas for mercy I will lead them back, I will make them walk by brooks of water, in a straight path in which they shall not stumble, for I am a father to Israel, and Ephraim is my firstborn.“ Hear the word of the Lord, O nations, and declare it in the coastlands far away; say,‘ He who scattered Israel will gather him, and will keep him as a shepherd keeps his flock.’For the Lord has ransomed Jacob and has redeemed him from hands too strong for him.They shall come and sing aloud on the height of Zion, and they shall be radiant over the goodness of the Lord, over the grain, the wine, and the oil, and over the young of the flock and the herd; their life shall be like a watered garden, and they shall languish no more.Then shall the young women rejoice in the dance, and the young men and the old shall be merry. I will turn their mourning into joy; I will comfort them, and give them gladness for sorrow.I will feast the soul of the priests with abundance, and my people shall be satisfied with my goodness, declares the Lord.”Thus says the Lord:“ A voice is heard in Ramah, lamentation and bitter weeping. Rachel is weeping for her children; she refuses to be comforted for her children, because they are no more.”Thus says the Lord:“ Keep your voice from weeping, and your eyes from tears, for there is a reward for your work, declares the Lord, and they shall come back from the land of the enemy.There is hope for your future, declares the Lord, and your children shall come back to their own country.I have heard Ephraim grieving,‘ You have disciplined me, and I was disciplined, like an untrained calf; bring me back that I may be restored, for you are the Lord my God.For after I had turned away, I relented, and after I was instructed, I struck my thigh; I was ashamed, and I was confounded, because I bore the disgrace of my youth.’Is Ephraim my dear son? Is he my darling child? For as often as I speak against him, I do remember him still. Therefore my heart yearns for him; I will surely have mercy on him, declares the Lord.“ Set up road markers for yourself; make yourself guideposts; consider well the highway, the road by which you went. Return, O virgin Israel, return to these your cities.How long will you waver, O faithless daughter? For the Lord has created a new thing on the earth: a woman encircles a man.”Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel:“ Once more they shall use these words in the land of Judah and in its cities, when I restore their fortunes:“‘ The Lord bless you, O habitation of righteousness, O holy hill!’And Judah and all its cities shall dwell there together, and the farmers and those who wander with their flocks.For I will satisfy the weary soul, and every languishing soul I will replenish.”At this I awoke and looked, and my sleep was pleasant to me.“ Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will sow the house of Israel and the house of Judah with the seed of man and the seed of beast.And it shall come to pass that as I have watched over them to pluck up and break down, to overthrow, destroy, and bring harm, so I will watch over them to build and to plant, declares the Lord.In those days they shall no longer say:“‘ The fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the children’s teeth are set on edge.’But everyone shall die for his own iniquity. Each man who eats sour grapes, his teeth shall be set on edge.“ Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and the house of Judah,not like the covenant that I made with their fathers on the day when I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt, my covenant that they broke, though I was their husband, declares the Lord.For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the Lord: I will put my law within them, and I will write it on their hearts. And I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

“ And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, and your young men shall see visions.Even on the male and female servants in those days I will pour out my Spirit.“ And I will show wonders in the heavens and on the earth, blood and fire and columns of smoke.The sun shall be turned to darkness, and the moon to blood, before the great and awesome day of the Lord comes.And it shall come to pass that everyone who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved. For in Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there shall be those who escape, as the Lord has said, and among the survivors shall be those whom the Lord calls.

Take with you words and return to the Lord; say to him,“ Take away all iniquity; accept what is good, and we will pay with bulls the vows of our lips.Assyria shall not save us; we will not ride on horses; and we will say no more,‘ Our God,’ to the work of our hands. In you the orphan finds mercy.”I will heal their apostasy; I will love them freely, for my anger has turned from them.I will be like the dew to Israel; he shall blossom like the lily; he shall take root like the trees of Lebanon;his shoots shall spread out; his beauty shall be like the olive, and his fragrance like Lebanon.They shall return and dwell beneath my shadow; they shall flourish like the grain; they shall blossom like the vine; their fame shall be like the wine of Lebanon.O Ephraim, what have I to do with idols? It is I who answer and look after you. I am like an evergreen cypress; from me comes your fruit.Whoever is wise, let him understand these things; whoever is discerning, let him know them; for the ways of the Lord are right, and the upright walk in them, but transgressors stumble in them.

Comfort, comfort my people, says your God.Speak tenderly to Jerusalem, and cry to her that her warfare is ended, that her iniquity is pardoned, that she has received from the Lord’s hand double for all her sins.A voice cries:“ In the wilderness prepare the way of the Lord; make straight in the desert a highway for our God.Every valley shall be lifted up, and every mountain and hill be made low; the uneven ground shall become level, and the rough places a plain.And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together, for the mouth of the Lord has spoken.”A voice says,“ Cry!” And I said,“ What shall I cry?” All flesh is grass, and all its beauty is like the flower of the field.The grass withers, the flower fades when the breath of the Lord blows on it; surely the people are grass.The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God will stand forever.Go on up to a high mountain, O Zion, herald of good news; lift up your voice with strength, O Jerusalem, herald of good news; lift it up, fear not; say to the cities of Judah,“ Behold your God!”Behold, the Lord God comes with might, and his arm rules for him; behold, his reward is with him, and his recompense before him.He will tend his flock like a shepherd; he will gather the lambs in his arms; he will carry them in his bosom, and gently lead those that are with young.Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand and marked off the heavens with a span, enclosed the dust of the earth in a measure and weighed the mountains in scales and the hills in a balance?Who has measured the Spirit of the Lord, or what man shows him his counsel?Whom did he consult, and who made him understand? Who taught him the path of justice, and taught him knowledge, and showed him the way of understanding?Behold, the nations are like a drop from a bucket, and are accounted as the dust on the scales; behold, he takes up the coastlands like fine dust.Lebanon would not suffice for fuel, nor are its beasts enough for a burnt offering.All the nations are as nothing before him, they are accounted by him as less than nothing and emptiness.To whom then will you liken God, or what likeness compare with him?An idol! A craftsman casts it, and a goldsmith overlays it with gold and casts for it silver chains.He who is too impoverished for an offering chooses wood that will not rot; he seeks out a skillful craftsman to set up an idol that will not move.Do you not know? Do you not hear? Has it not been told you from the beginning? Have you not understood from the foundations of the earth?It is he who sits above the circle of the earth, and its inhabitants are like grasshoppers; who stretches out the heavens like a curtain, and spreads them like a tent to dwell in;who brings princes to nothing, and makes the rulers of the earth as emptiness.Scarcely are they planted, scarcely sown, scarcely has their stem taken root in the earth, when he blows on them, and they wither, and the tempest carries them off like stubble.To whom then will you compare me, that I should be like him? says the Holy One.Lift up your eyes on high and see: who created these? He who brings out their host by number, calling them all by name; by the greatness of his might and because he is strong in power, not one is missing.Why do you say, O Jacob, and speak, O Israel,“ My way is hidden from the Lord, and my right is disregarded by my God”?Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable.He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength.Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted;but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.

“ Therefore, behold, I will allure her, and bring her into the wilderness, and speak tenderly to her.And there I will give her her vineyards and make the Valley of Achor a door of hope. And there she shall answer as in the days of her youth, as at the time when she came out of the land of Egypt.“ And in that day, declares the Lord, you will call me‘ My Husband,’ and no longer will you call me‘ My Baal.’For I will remove the names of the Baals from her mouth, and they shall be remembered by name no more.And I will make for them a covenant on that day with the beasts of the field, the birds of the heavens, and the creeping things of the ground. And I will abolish the bow, the sword, and war from the land, and I will make you lie down in safety.And I will betroth you to me forever. I will betroth you to me in righteousness and in justice, in steadfast love and in mercy.I will betroth you to me in faithfulness. And you shall know the Lord.“ And in that day I will answer, declares the Lord, I will answer the heavens, and they shall answer the earth,and the earth shall answer the grain, the wine, and the oil, and they shall answer Jezreel,and I will sow her for myself in the land. And I will have mercy on No Mercy, and I will say to Not My People,‘ You are my people’; and he shall say,‘ You are my God.’”

Sing aloud, O daughter of Zion; shout, O Israel! Rejoice and exult with all your heart, O daughter of Jerusalem!The Lord has taken away the judgments against you; he has cleared away your enemies. The King of Israel, the Lord, is in your midst; you shall never again fear evil.On that day it shall be said to Jerusalem:“ Fear not, O Zion; let not your hands grow weak.The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.I will gather those of you who mourn for the festival, so that you will no longer suffer reproach.Behold, at that time I will deal with all your oppressors. And I will save the lame and gather the outcast, and I will change their shame into praise and renown in all the earth.At that time I will bring you in, at the time when I gather you together; for I will make you renowned and praised among all the peoples of the earth, when I restore your fortunes before your eyes,” says the Lord.

Then the clans of Judah shall say to themselves,‘ The inhabitants of Jerusalem have strength through the Lord of hosts, their God.’“ On that day I will make the clans of Judah like a blazing pot in the midst of wood, like a flaming torch among sheaves. And they shall devour to the right and to the left all the surrounding peoples, while Jerusalem shall again be inhabited in its place, in Jerusalem.“ And the Lord will give salvation to the tents of Judah first, that the glory of the house of David and the glory of the inhabitants of Jerusalem may not surpass that of Judah.On that day the Lord will protect the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that the feeblest among them on that day shall be like David, and the house of David shall be like God, like the angel of the Lord, going before them.And on that day I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.“ And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and pleas for mercy, so that, when they look on me, on him whom they have pierced, they shall mourn for him, as one mourns for an only child, and weep bitterly over him, as one weeps over a firstborn.

“ Thus says the Lord: Behold, I will restore the fortunes of the tents of Jacob and have compassion on his dwellings; the city shall be rebuilt on its mound, and the palace shall stand where it used to be.Out of them shall come songs of thanksgiving, and the voices of those who celebrate. I will multiply them, and they shall not be few; I will make them honored, and they shall not be small.Their children shall be as they were of old, and their congregation shall be established before me, and I will punish all who oppress them.Their prince shall be one of themselves; their ruler shall come out from their midst; I will make him draw near, and he shall approach me, for who would dare of himself to approach me? declares the Lord.And you shall be my people, and I will be your God.”

Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout aloud, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your king is coming to you; righteous and having salvation is he, humble and mounted on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.I will cut off the chariot from Ephraim and the war horse from Jerusalem; and the battle bow shall be cut off, and he shall speak peace to the nations; his rule shall be from sea to sea, and from the River to the ends of the earth.As for you also, because of the blood of my covenant with you, I will set your prisoners free from the waterless pit.Return to your stronghold, O prisoners of hope; today I declare that I will restore to you double.For I have bent Judah as my bow; I have made Ephraim its arrow. I will stir up your sons, O Zion, against your sons, O Greece, and wield you like a warrior’s sword.Then the Lord will appear over them, and his arrow will go forth like lightning; the Lord God will sound the trumpet and will march forth in the whirlwinds of the south.The Lord of hosts will protect them, and they shall devour, and tread down the sling stones, and they shall drink and roar as if drunk with wine, and be full like a bowl, drenched like the corners of the altar.On that day the Lord their God will save them, as the flock of his people; for like the jewels of a crown they shall shine on his land.For how great is his goodness, and how great his beauty! Grain shall make the young men flourish, and new wine the young women.

Shepherd your people with your staff, the flock of your inheritance, who dwell alone in a forest in the midst of a garden land; let them graze in Bashan and Gilead as in the days of old.As in the days when you came out of the land of Egypt, I will show them marvelous things.The nations shall see and be ashamed of all their might; they shall lay their hands on their mouths; their ears shall be deaf;they shall lick the dust like a serpent, like the crawling things of the earth; they shall come trembling out of their strongholds; they shall turn in dread to the Lord our God, and they shall be in fear of you.Who is a God like you, pardoning iniquity and passing over transgression for the remnant of his inheritance? He does not retain his anger forever, because he delights in steadfast love.He will again have compassion on us; he will tread our iniquities under foot. You will cast all our sins into the depths of the sea.You will show faithfulness to Jacob and steadfast love to Abraham, as you have sworn to our fathers from the days of old.

For thus says the Lord of hosts:“ As I purposed to bring disaster to you when your fathers provoked me to wrath, and I did not relent, says the Lord of hosts,so again have I purposed in these days to bring good to Jerusalem and to the house of Judah; fear not.

Afterward the children of Israel shall return and seek the Lord their God, and David their king, and they shall come in fear to the Lord and to his goodness in the latter days.

Behold, the eyes of the Lord God are upon the sinful kingdom, and I will destroy it from the surface of the ground, except that I will not utterly destroy the house of Jacob,” declares the Lord.“ For behold, I will command, and shake the house of Israel among all the nations as one shakes with a sieve, but no pebble shall fall to the earth.All the sinners of my people shall die by the sword, who say,‘ Disaster shall not overtake or meet us.’“ In that day I will raise up the booth of David that is fallen and repair its breaches, and raise up its ruins and rebuild it as in the days of old,that they may possess the remnant of Edom and all the nations who are called by my name,” declares the Lord who does this.“ Behold, the days are coming,” declares the Lord,“ when the plowman shall overtake the reaper and the treader of grapes him who sows the seed; the mountains shall drip sweet wine, and all the hills shall flow with it.I will restore the fortunes of my people Israel, and they shall rebuild the ruined cities and inhabit them; they shall plant vineyards and drink their wine, and they shall make gardens and eat their fruit.I will plant them on their land, and they shall never again be uprooted out of the land that I have given them,” says the Lord your God.

And he shall stand and shepherd his flock in the strength of the Lord, in the majesty of the name of the Lord his God. And they shall dwell secure, for now he shall be great to the ends of the earth.And he shall be their peace. When the Assyrian comes into our land and treads in our palaces, then we will raise against him seven shepherds and eight princes of men;they shall shepherd the land of Assyria with the sword, and the land of Nimrod at its entrances; and he shall deliver us from the Assyrian when he comes into our land and treads within our border.Then the remnant of Jacob shall be in the midst of many peoples like dew from the Lord, like showers on the grass, which delay not for a man nor wait for the children of man.

“ And you, son of man, prophesy to the mountains of Israel, and say, O mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord.Thus says the Lord God: Because the enemy said of you,‘ Aha!’ and,‘ The ancient heights have become our possession,’therefore prophesy, and say, Thus says the Lord God: Precisely because they made you desolate and crushed you from all sides, so that you became the possession of the rest of the nations, and you became the talk and evil gossip of the people,therefore, O mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord God: Thus says the Lord God to the mountains and the hills, the ravines and the valleys, the desolate wastes and the deserted cities, which have become a prey and derision to the rest of the nations all around,therefore thus says the Lord God: Surely I have spoken in my hot jealousy against the rest of the nations and against all Edom, who gave my land to themselves as a possession with wholehearted joy and utter contempt, that they might make its pasturelands a prey.Therefore prophesy concerning the land of Israel, and say to the mountains and hills, to the ravines and valleys, Thus says the Lord God: Behold, I have spoken in my jealous wrath, because you have suffered the reproach of the nations.Therefore thus says the Lord God: I swear that the nations that are all around you shall themselves suffer reproach.“ But you, O mountains of Israel, shall shoot forth your branches and yield your fruit to my people Israel, for they will soon come home.For behold, I am for you, and I will turn to you, and you shall be tilled and sown.And I will multiply people on you, the whole house of Israel, all of it. The cities shall be inhabited and the waste places rebuilt.And I will multiply on you man and beast, and they shall multiply and be fruitful. And I will cause you to be inhabited as in your former times, and will do more good to you than ever before. Then you will know that I am the Lord.I will let people walk on you, even my people Israel. And they shall possess you, and you shall be their inheritance, and you shall no longer bereave them of children.Thus says the Lord God: Because they say to you,‘ You devour people, and you bereave your nation of children,’therefore you shall no longer devour people and no longer bereave your nation of children, declares the Lord God.And I will not let you hear anymore the reproach of the nations, and you shall no longer bear the disgrace of the peoples and no longer cause your nation to stumble, declares the Lord God.”The word of the Lord came to me:“ Son of man, when the house of Israel lived in their own land, they defiled it by their ways and their deeds. Their ways before me were like the uncleanness of a woman in her menstrual impurity.So I poured out my wrath upon them for the blood that they had shed in the land, for the idols with which they had defiled it.I scattered them among the nations, and they were dispersed through the countries. In accordance with their ways and their deeds I judged them.But when they came to the nations, wherever they came, they profaned my holy name, in that people said of them,‘ These are the people of the Lord, and yet they had to go out of his land.’But I had concern for my holy name, which the house of Israel had profaned among the nations to which they came.“ Therefore say to the house of Israel, Thus says the Lord God: It is not for your sake, O house of Israel, that I am about to act, but for the sake of my holy name, which you have profaned among the nations to which you came.And I will vindicate the holiness of my great name, which has been profaned among the nations, and which you have profaned among them. And the nations will know that I am the Lord, declares the Lord God, when through you I vindicate my holiness before their eyes.I will take you from the nations and gather you from all the countries and bring you into your own land.I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you shall be clean from all your uncleannesses, and from all your idols I will cleanse you.And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes and be careful to obey my rules.You shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers, and you shall be my people, and I will be your God.And I will deliver you from all your uncleannesses. And I will summon the grain and make it abundant and lay no famine upon you.I will make the fruit of the tree and the increase of the field abundant, that you may never again suffer the disgrace of famine among the nations.Then you will remember your evil ways, and your deeds that were not good, and you will loathe yourselves for your iniquities and your abominations.It is not for your sake that I will act, declares the Lord God; let that be known to you. Be ashamed and confounded for your ways, O house of Israel.“ Thus says the Lord God: On the day that I cleanse you from all your iniquities, I will cause the cities to be inhabited, and the waste places shall be rebuilt.And the land that was desolate shall be tilled, instead of being the desolation that it was in the sight of all who passed by.And they will say,‘ This land that was desolate has become like the garden of Eden, and the waste and desolate and ruined cities are now fortified and inhabited.’Then the nations that are left all around you shall know that I am the Lord; I have rebuilt the ruined places and replanted that which was desolate. I am the Lord; I have spoken, and I will do it.“ Thus says the Lord God: This also I will let the house of Israel ask me to do for them: to increase their people like a flock.

But my words and my statutes, which I commanded my servants the prophets, did they not overtake your fathers? So they repented and said,‘ As the Lord of hosts purposed to deal with us for our ways and deeds, so has he dealt with us.’”

And on that day there shall be inscribed on the bells of the horses,“ Holy to the Lord.” And the pots in the house of the Lord shall be as the bowls before the altar.And every pot in Jerusalem and Judah shall be holy to the Lord of hosts, so that all who sacrifice may come and take of them and boil the meat of the sacrifice in them. And there shall no longer be a trader in the house of the Lord of hosts on that day.

Another angel, a second, followed, saying,“ Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great, she who made all nations drink the wine of the passion of her sexual immorality.”And another angel, a third, followed them, saying with a loud voice,“ If anyone worships the beast and its image and receives a mark on his forehead or on his hand,he also will drink the wine of God’s wrath, poured full strength into the cup of his anger, and he will be tormented with fire and sulfur in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb.And the smoke of their torment goes up forever and ever, and they have no rest, day or night, these worshipers of the beast and its image, and whoever receives the mark of its name.”Here is a call for the endurance of the saints, those who keep the commandments of God and their faith in Jesus.And I heard a voice from heaven saying,“ Write this: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.”“ Blessed indeed,” says the Spirit,“ that they may rest from their labors, for their deeds follow them!”Then I looked, and behold, a white cloud, and seated on the cloud one like a son of man, with a golden crown on his head, and a sharp sickle in his hand.

“ And you, son of man, prophesy against Gog and say, Thus says the Lord God: Behold, I am against you, O Gog, chief prince of Meshech and Tubal.And I will turn you about and drive you forward, and bring you up from the uttermost parts of the north, and lead you against the mountains of Israel.Then I will strike your bow from your left hand, and will make your arrows drop out of your right hand.You shall fall on the mountains of Israel, you and all your hordes and the peoples who are with you. I will give you to birds of prey of every sort and to the beasts of the field to be devoured.You shall fall in the open field, for I have spoken, declares the Lord God.I will send fire on Magog and on those who dwell securely in the coastlands, and they shall know that I am the Lord.“ And my holy name I will make known in the midst of my people Israel, and I will not let my holy name be profaned anymore. And the nations shall know that I am the Lord, the Holy One in Israel.Behold, it is coming and it will be brought about, declares the Lord God. That is the day of which I have spoken.“ Then those who dwell in the cities of Israel will go out and make fires of the weapons and burn them, shields and bucklers, bow and arrows, clubs and spears; and they will make fires of them for seven years,so that they will not need to take wood out of the field or cut down any out of the forests, for they will make their fires of the weapons. They will seize the spoil of those who despoiled them, and plunder those who plundered them, declares the Lord God.“ On that day I will give to Gog a place for burial in Israel, the Valley of the Travelers, east of the sea. It will block the travelers, for there Gog and all his multitude will be buried. It will be called the Valley of Hamon-gog.For seven months the house of Israel will be burying them, in order to cleanse the land.All the people of the land will bury them, and it will bring them renown on the day that I show my glory, declares the Lord God.They will set apart men to travel through the land regularly and bury those travelers remaining on the face of the land, so as to cleanse it. At the end of seven months they will make their search.And when these travel through the land and anyone sees a human bone, then he shall set up a sign by it, till the buriers have buried it in the Valley of Hamon-gog.( Hamonah is also the name of the city.) Thus shall they cleanse the land.“ As for you, son of man, thus says the Lord God: Speak to the birds of every sort and to all beasts of the field:‘ Assemble and come, gather from all around to the sacrificial feast that I am preparing for you, a great sacrificial feast on the mountains of Israel, and you shall eat flesh and drink blood.You shall eat the flesh of the mighty, and drink the blood of the princes of the earth— of rams, of lambs, and of he-goats, of bulls, all of them fat beasts of Bashan.And you shall eat fat till you are filled, and drink blood till you are drunk, at the sacrificial feast that I am preparing for you.And you shall be filled at my table with horses and charioteers, with mighty men and all kinds of warriors,’ declares the Lord God.“ And I will set my glory among the nations, and all the nations shall see my judgment that I have executed, and my hand that I have laid on them.The house of Israel shall know that I am the Lord their God, from that day forward.And the nations shall know that the house of Israel went into captivity for their iniquity, because they dealt so treacherously with me that I hid my face from them and gave them into the hand of their adversaries, and they all fell by the sword.I dealt with them according to their uncleanness and their transgressions, and hid my face from them.“ Therefore thus says the Lord God: Now I will restore the fortunes of Jacob and have mercy on the whole house of Israel, and I will be jealous for my holy name.They shall forget their shame and all the treachery they have practiced against me, when they dwell securely in their land with none to make them afraid,when I have brought them back from the peoples and gathered them from their enemies’ lands, and through them have vindicated my holiness in the sight of many nations.Then they shall know that I am the Lord their God, because I sent them into exile among the nations and then assembled them into their own land. I will leave none of them remaining among the nations anymore.And I will not hide my face anymore from them, when I pour out my Spirit upon the house of Israel, declares the Lord God.”
