This is the text of the letter that the prophet Jeremiah sent from Jerusalem to the surviving elders among the exiles and to the priests, the prophets and all the other people Nebuchadnezzar had carried into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon.

Jeremiah the prophet sent a letter from Jerusalem to Babylon. It was for the Jewish elders still alive there. It was also for the priests and prophets in Babylon. And it was for all the other people Nebuchadnezzar had taken from Jerusalem to Babylon.

These are the words of the letter that Jeremiah the prophet sent from Jerusalem to the surviving elders of the exiles, and to the priests, the prophets, and all the people, whom Nebuchadnezzar had taken into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon.

末底改把這些事寫下來，將文書送給亞哈隨魯王各省的猶大人、無論遠近；

『萬軍之永恆主以色列之上帝這麼說：你曾用自己的名寄信給在耶路撒冷的眾民，給祭司瑪西雅的兒子西番雅、和眾祭司說：「永恆主已經立了你西番雅為祭司來代替祭司耶何耶大，使你做永恆主殿中的監督，好將一切瘋狂的、發神言狂的人用枷枷住，用脖子鎖鎖住。現在呢、亞拿突人耶利米自專地向你們發神言，你們為甚麼沒有責備他呢？因為他寄信給我們在巴比倫的人說：『被擄的時期是會延長很久的；你們要建造房屋來居住，要栽種園子來喫它們的果實。』」』祭司西番雅把這信念給神言人耶利米聽。

寫信、經他們手帶去，說：『做使徒和長老的弟兄們、給在安提阿、敍利亞、基利家一帶外國中的弟兄們請安。

弟兄們，我求你們要容納這勸勉的話；因為我給你們寫信、也只是簡略罷了。

『你要寫信給在以弗所的教會的使者說：『「那把七顆星握住在右手中、在七個金燈臺中間走來走去的、這麼說我知道你的行為、你的勞苦和堅忍，也知道你不能容忍惡人。那說自己是使徒、其實不是的、你曾試驗過，看出他們是假的。我知道你有堅忍，曾為我的名擔受一切，也不勞累。

希西家差遣了人去見以色列和猶大眾人，並且寫了詔書給以法蓮和瑪拿西人，叫他們到耶路撒冷永恆主的殿，向永恆主以色列的上帝守逾越節。因為王和他的大臣跟那在耶路撒冷的全體大眾已經商議好了、要在二月裏守逾越節。正月間他們不能守，因為潔淨自己為聖的祭司還不夠用，人民也沒有聚集在耶路撒冷。王和全體大眾都以這樣為對。於是立下了命令，將布告傳達在全以色列，從別是巴直到但，叫人民都來、在耶路撒冷向永恆主以色列的上帝守逾越節，因為人民遵照所記載的例來守這節的並不多。跑文書的帶着王和他的大臣手發的詔書就去、走遍以色列和猶大，並且遵照王所吩咐的說：『以色列人哪，你們要轉向永恆主、亞伯拉罕以撒以色列的上帝，好叫他轉向你們這逃脫亞述王掌握的餘民。

巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒使猶大王約雅敬的兒子耶哥尼雅和猶大的首領跟匠人、鐵匠、從耶路撒冷流亡去，給帶到巴比倫：這事以後，永恆主給我看個異象：看哪，有兩筐無花果，放在永恆主的殿堂前。一筐是極好的無花果，好像首先熟的無花果；一筐是極壞的無花果，壞到喫不得。於是永恆主問我說：『耶利米啊，你看見甚麼？』我說：『我看見無花果，那好的無花果好極啦，那壞的壞極啦，壞到喫不得。』永恆主的話就傳與我說：『永恆主以色列的上帝這麼說：猶大流亡的人、我所打發離開這地方到迦勒底人之地去的、我必看他們好，如同這些好的無花果。我必注目好待他們，領他們返回這地；建立他們，必不傾覆；栽植他們，必不拔除。我必賜給他們一種心能認識我，知道我是永恆主；他們必做我的子民，我呢、必做他們的上帝，因為他們必全心全意地回轉來歸向我。

先前呢、我雖由書信而讓你們憂愁，後來就說是後悔罷，如今也不後悔了。我看那書信實在讓你們憂愁了，卻不過是暫時的。

我必將猶大王約雅敬的兒子耶哥尼雅和那些到巴比倫去的、猶大一切流亡的人、都帶回這地來，因為我要折斷巴比倫王的軛：這是永恆主發神諭說的。』

你們看，我親手寫給你們的、是多麼大的字！
