This is the text of the letter that the prophet Jeremiah sent from Jerusalem to the surviving elders among the exiles and to the priests, the prophets and all the other people Nebuchadnezzar had carried into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon.

Jeremiah the prophet sent a letter from Jerusalem to Babylon. It was for the Jewish elders still alive there. It was also for the priests and prophets in Babylon. And it was for all the other people Nebuchadnezzar had taken from Jerusalem to Babylon.

These are the words of the letter that Jeremiah the prophet sent from Jerusalem to the surviving elders of the exiles, and to the priests, the prophets, and all the people, whom Nebuchadnezzar had taken into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon.

Now these[ are] the words of the letter that Jeremiah the prophet sent from Jerusalem unto the residue of the elders which were carried away captives, and to the priests, and to the prophets, and to all the people whom Nebuchadnezzar had carried away captive from Jerusalem to Babylon;

The prophet Jeremiah sent a letter to the exiles Nebuchadnezzar had carried off from Jerusalem to Babylon. It was addressed to the elders who were left among the exiles, to the priests, to the prophets, and to all the other people who were exiled in Babylon.

Now these are the words of the letter that Jeremiah the prophet sent from Jerusalem to the residue of the elders of the captivity, and to the priests, to the prophets, and to all the people whom Nebuchadnezzar had carried away captive from Jerusalem to Babylon,

末底改把這些事記錄下來，並且送文書給亞哈隨魯各省遠近所有的猶大人，

‘萬軍之耶和華以色列的神這樣說：你曾用自己的名寄信給在耶路撒冷的眾民、瑪西雅祭司的兒子西番雅，和眾祭司，說：耶和華已經立了你西番雅為祭司，代替耶何耶大，作耶和華殿中的總管，你就應把所有妄自說預言的人，都帶上腳鐐枷鎖。現在，亞拿突人耶利米向你們說預言，你為甚麼不斥責他呢？因為他寄信給我們在巴比倫的人說：被擄的時期必會長久，所以你們要建造房屋，定居下來，也要栽植園子，吃園中的果子。’”（西番雅祭司卻把這封信念給耶利米先知聽。）

於是寫信給他們帶去，信上說：“使徒和作長老的弟兄們，向安提阿、敘利亞、基利家的外族眾弟兄問安。

弟兄們，我勸你們耐心接受我這勸勉的話，因為我只是簡略地寫給你們。

“你要寫信給在以弗所教會的使者，說：‘那右手拿著七星，在七個金燈臺中間行走的，這樣說：我知道你的行為、你的勞苦、你的忍耐，也知道你不能容忍惡人。你也曾經試驗那些自稱是使徒，而其實不是使徒的人，看出他們是假的。你有忍耐，曾為我的名的緣故忍受一切，並不困倦。

希西家派人走遍以色列和猶大，又寫信給以法蓮人和瑪拿西人，叫他們到耶路撒冷耶和華的殿來，守逾越節記念耶和華以色列的神。因為王和眾領袖，以及耶路撒冷的全體會眾曾經商議，要在二月守逾越節。（但他們不能如期守逾越節，因為自潔的祭司不夠，人民也沒有齊集在耶路撒冷。）王和全體會眾都認為這計劃很好，於是下了命令，通告全以色列，從別是巴直到但，叫人民來耶路撒冷守逾越節記念耶和華以色列的神，因為照著所記的定例舉行這節的人不多。信差就帶著王和眾領袖發出的書信，走遍全以色列和猶大，照著王的吩咐，宣告說：“以色列人哪，你們應當轉向耶和華，亞伯拉罕、以撒和以色列的神，使他也轉向你們這些在亞述王手中逃脫的餘民。

巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒把猶大王約雅敬的兒子耶哥尼雅，和猶大的眾領袖、工匠與鐵匠從耶路撒冷擄到巴比倫去。這事以後，耶和華使我看見在耶和華的殿前面擺著兩筐無花果。一筐是極好的無花果，像初熟的無花果；另一筐是極壞的無花果，壞到不能吃。於是耶和華問我：“耶利米啊，你看見甚麼？”我回答：“我看見無花果。那些好的無花果極好，壞的卻極壞，壞到不能吃。”耶和華的話臨到我，說：“耶和華以色列的神這樣說：‘被擄去的猶大人，就是我打發離開這地方到迦勒底人之地去的，我必看他們如同這些好的無花果一樣，眷顧他們。我必關注他們，眷顧他們，領他們歸回這地。我必建立他們，必不拆毀；我必栽植他們，必不拔除。我必賜給他們一顆認識我的心，知道我就是耶和華；他們要作我的子民，我要親自作他們的神，因為他們必一心歸向我。’”

雖然我在那封信上使你們憂傷，但我現在並不後悔；其實我曾經有點後悔，因為知道那封信使你們憂傷，雖然只是暫時的。

我也必把猶大王約雅敬的兒子耶哥尼雅，和所有被擄到巴比倫去的猶大人，都帶回這地方，因為我必折斷巴比倫王的軛。’這是耶和華的宣告。”
