This is the text of the letter that the prophet Jeremiah sent from Jerusalem to the surviving elders among the exiles and to the priests, the prophets and all the other people Nebuchadnezzar had carried into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon.

Jeremiah the prophet sent a letter from Jerusalem to Babylon. It was for the Jewish elders still alive there. It was also for the priests and prophets in Babylon. And it was for all the other people Nebuchadnezzar had taken from Jerusalem to Babylon.

“以色列的上帝——万军之耶和华说，你曾以自己的名义写信给住在耶路撒冷的众民、玛西雅的儿子西番雅祭司及其他祭司。你在信中对西番雅说，‘耶和华已立你为祭司代替耶何耶大，管理耶和华的殿，负责拘捕妄自发预言的狂人，给他们戴上铁链枷锁。现在，亚拿突人耶利米在你们当中自称为先知，你为什么不斥责他呢？他甚至寄信给我们这些在巴比伦的人，说被掳的日子还很长久，要我们建房子住下来，耕种田园，吃田中的出产。’”西番雅祭司就把示玛雅的信读给耶利米先知听。

他们带去的书信这样说：“安提阿、叙利亚和基利迦的外族弟兄姊妹，你们的弟兄——众使徒和长老向你们问安！

弟兄姊妹，我简短地写信给你们，希望你们听我劝勉的话。

“你要写信告诉以弗所教会的天使，那位右手拿着七颗星、往来于七个金灯台中间的主说，‘我知道你的行为、劳碌和坚忍，也知道你疾恶如仇，曾查验出那些假冒的使徒，揭穿他们的虚假。你曾坚定不移地为我的名受苦，没有气馁。

希西迦派人通告以色列和犹大全境，又写信通知以法莲人和玛拿西人，叫他们到耶路撒冷耶和华的殿，向以色列的上帝耶和华守逾越节。王、众官员及耶路撒冷的全体会众决定在二月守逾越节。他们不能在一月守节期，因为洁净自己的祭司不够多，民众也没有聚集在耶路撒冷。王与全体会众都很赞成这个计划。于是，他们下令通告全以色列，从别示巴直到但，让人们到耶路撒冷向以色列的上帝耶和华守逾越节，因为人们不常照律例守这节期。信差遵照王的命令带着王和众官员的信走遍以色列和犹大，宣告说：“以色列人啊，你们应当归向亚伯拉罕、以撒和以色列的上帝耶和华，好使祂转向你们这些从亚述王手中逃脱的余民。

巴比伦王尼布甲尼撒从耶路撒冷把犹大王约雅敬的儿子耶哥尼雅、犹大的官员、技工和工匠掳到巴比伦以后，耶和华使我看见两筐无花果放在祂的殿前。一筐无花果极好，好像初熟的果子；另一筐则坏得不能吃。耶和华问我：“耶利米啊，你看见什么？”我回答说：“无花果。好的好极了，坏的坏得不能吃。”耶和华便对我说：“以色列的上帝耶和华这样说，‘那些从这里被掳到迦勒底的犹大人在我眼中是好无花果。我要眷顾他们，带他们回到这里。我要使他们兴起，不再毁灭他们；我要栽培他们，不再铲除他们；我要赐给他们一颗心，使他们认识我是耶和华。他们要做我的子民，我要做他们的上帝，因为他们必全心全意地归向我。’

我曾为从前写的那封信令你们忧伤而后悔，但现在不后悔了，因为我知道那封信令你们忧伤只是暂时的。

我也必把犹大王约雅敬的儿子耶哥尼雅和其他被掳到巴比伦的犹大人带回来，因为我要折断巴比伦王奴役你们的轭。这是耶和华说的。’”
