那時，我必在猶大的城市中和耶路撒冷的街道上，使歡欣和快樂的聲音、新郎和新婦的聲音止息，因為這地必要變為荒場。”

你所有的后妃和你的兒女，都必被帶出來，去到迦勒底人那裡；你自己也不能從他們的手裡逃脫，因為你必被巴比倫王的手抓住；這城也必被火燒毀（“這城也必被火燒毀”有古抄本作“你必放火燒毀這城”）。”

耶利米對西底家說：“耶和華萬軍的神、以色列的神這樣說：‘你若出去歸降巴比倫王的將領，你的性命就可以存活；這城也不會被火焚燒，你和你一家都可以存活。

但哪一國肯把頸項放在巴比倫王的軛下，服事他，我就必使那國仍留在本土，可以在那裡耕種和居住。’”這是耶和華的宣告。我照著這一切話對猶大王西底家說：“你們要把頸項放在巴比倫王的軛下，服事他和他的人民，就可以生存。你和你的人民為甚麼要因刀劍、饑荒和瘟疫而死，正如耶和華論到不肯服事巴比倫王的國家所說的一樣呢？
