惟恐這事越發傳揚在民間，我們必須恐嚇他們，叫他們不再奉這名對人講論。」於是叫了他們來，禁止他們總不可奉耶穌的名講論教訓人。彼得、約翰說：「聽從你們，不聽從神，這在神面前合理不合理，你們自己酌量吧！

你們怨恨那在城門口責備人的，憎惡那說正直話的。

我們曾聽見他說，這拿撒勒人耶穌要毀壞此地，也要改變摩西所交給我們的規條。」

這些話是耶穌在殿裏的庫房教訓人時所說的，也沒有人拿他，因為他的時候還沒有到。

我必使耶路撒冷變為亂堆，為野狗的住處，也必使猶大的城邑變為荒場，無人居住。

有一個銀匠，名叫底米丟，是製造亞底米神銀龕的，他使這樣手藝人生意發達。他聚集他們和同行的工人，說：「眾位，你們知道我們是倚靠這生意發財。這保羅不但在以弗所，也幾乎在亞細亞全地，引誘迷惑許多人，說：『人手所做的，不是神。』這是你們所看見所聽見的。這樣，不獨我們這事業被人藐視，就是大女神亞底米的廟也要被人輕忽，連亞細亞全地和普天下所敬拜的大女神之威榮也要消滅了。」眾人聽見，就怒氣填胸，喊着說：「大哉，以弗所人的亞底米啊！」滿城都轟動起來。眾人拿住與保羅同行的馬其頓人該猶和亞里達古，齊心擁進戲園裏去。保羅想要進去，到百姓那裏，門徒卻不許他去。還有亞細亞幾位首領，是保羅的朋友，打發人來勸他，不要冒險到戲園裏去。聚集的人紛紛亂亂，有喊叫這個的，有喊叫那個的；大半不知道是為甚麼聚集。

於是他們拿石頭要打他；耶穌卻躲藏，從殿裏出去了。

只是祭司長挑唆眾人，寧可釋放巴拉巴給他們。

但那不信的猶太人心裏嫉妒，招聚了些市井匪類，搭夥成羣，聳動合城的人闖進耶孫的家，要將保羅、西拉帶到百姓那裏。找不着他們，就把耶孫和幾個弟兄拉到地方官那裏，喊叫說：「那攪亂天下的也到這裏來了，耶孫收留他們。這些人都違背凱撒的命令，說另有一個王耶穌。」眾人和地方官聽見這話，就驚慌了；

使女的主人們見得利的指望沒有了，便揪住保羅和西拉，拉他們到市上去見首領；又帶到官長面前說：「這些人原是猶太人，竟騷擾我們的城，傳我們羅馬人所不可受不可行的規矩。」眾人就一同起來攻擊他們。官長吩咐剝了他們的衣裳，用棍打；

眾人聽他說到這句話，就高聲說：「這樣的人，從世上除掉他吧！他是不當活着的。」

「我們不是嚴嚴地禁止你們，不可奉這名教訓人嗎？你們倒把你們的道理充滿了耶路撒冷，想要叫這人的血歸到我們身上！」

但猶太人挑唆虔敬、尊貴的婦女和城內有名望的人，逼迫保羅、巴拿巴，將他們趕出境外。

耶穌進了殿，正教訓人的時候，祭司長和民間的長老來問他說：「你仗着甚麼權柄做這些事？給你這權柄的是誰呢？」

他們在爭訟的事上定無罪的為有罪，為城門口責備人的設下網羅，用虛無的事屈枉義人。

祭司長和長老挑唆眾人，求釋放巴拉巴，除滅耶穌。

合城都震動，百姓一齊跑來，拿住保羅，拉他出殿，殿門立刻都關了。

他們說：你們不可說預言；不可向這些人說預言，不住地羞辱我們。

因為他們是悖逆的百姓、說謊的兒女，不肯聽從耶和華訓誨的兒女。他們對先見說：不要望見不吉利的事，對先知說：不要向我們講正直的話；要向我們說柔和的話，言虛幻的事。你們要離棄正道，偏離直路，不要在我們面前再提說以色列的聖者。

先知與王說話的時候，王對他說：「誰立你作王的謀士呢？你住口吧！為何找打呢？」先知就止住了，又說：「你行這事，不聽從我的勸戒，我知道神定意要滅你。」
