“ Wash yourselves. Cleanse yourselves. Remove your evil deeds from my sight. Stop doing evil.Learn to do what is good. Pursue justice. Correct the oppressor. Defend the rights of the fatherless. Plead the widow’s cause.“ Come, let’s settle this,” says the LORD.“ Though your sins are scarlet, they will be as white as snow; though they are crimson red, they will be like wool.If you are willing and obedient, you will eat the good things of the land.

Perhaps when the house of Judah hears about all the disaster I am planning to bring on them, each one of them will turn from his evil way. Then I will forgive their iniquity and their sin.”

But if a wicked person turns from the wickedness he has committed and does what is just and right, he will preserve his life.He will certainly live because he thought it over and turned from all the transgressions he had committed; he will not die.But the house of Israel says,‘ The Lord’s way isn’t fair.’ Is it my ways that are unfair, house of Israel? Instead, isn’t it your ways that are unfair?“ Therefore, house of Israel, I will judge each one of you according to his ways.” This is the declaration of the Lord GOD.“ Repent and turn from all your rebellious acts, so they will not become a sinful stumbling block to you.

When Ahab heard these words, he tore his clothes, put sackcloth over his body, and fasted. He lay down in sackcloth and walked around subdued.

Furthermore, both people and animals must be covered with sackcloth, and everyone must call out earnestly to God. Each must turn from his evil ways and from his wrongdoing.Who knows? Perhaps their petition will come before the LORD, and each one will turn from his evil way, for the anger and fury that the LORD has pronounced against this people are intense.”
