耶和华对我说：“你去向陶匠买一个瓦瓶，带着百姓和祭司中的一些首领到哈珥西城门旁的欣嫩子谷，在那里宣告我的话。你要说，‘犹大王和耶路撒冷的居民啊，你们要听耶和华的话！以色列的上帝——万军之耶和华说，看啊，我要在这里降下灾祸，听见这消息的人都必耳鸣。

但耶和华不再让我看守羊群，祂对我说，‘去！向我的以色列子民说预言。’亚玛谢啊，你说，‘不要说攻击以色列的预言，不要传讲攻击以撒子孙的信息。’现在你要听耶和华对你说的话。耶和华说，‘你的妻子必在这城里沦为妓女，你的儿女必丧身刀下，你的田地必被人丈量、瓜分，你自己必死在异乡。以色列人必被掳去，远离家乡。’”
