諸方伯庶民、告祭司先知、曰、此人藉我上帝耶和華之名而言、不可殺也。民間長老數人遂起、告庶民之會曰、

然沙番子亞希甘護翼耶利米、不許庶民殺之。

邑中之牧伯若狼、行其殘害、肆其吞噬、以獲不義之利。

利拿單、地來雅、其馬哩諫王、勿焚。王弗聽。

諸牧伯奏王曰、斯人所言、邑中武士百姓、無不喪膽、以若所云、於民不利、可殺之。西底家王曰、權操諸爾、王莫能禦焉。眾乃執耶利米、解於外獄、哈米勒子馬勒家室有井、以繩縋之下、井無水、惟有淤泥、耶利米遂淖於泥中。

耶利米曰、否、否、迦勒底人、我安肯降之。以哩雅不聽、仍執耶利米、解至牧伯、牧伯怒、撻耶利米、在繕寫約拿單之室、有囹圄、幽之於彼。耶利米下獄、囚於蠶室、居彼日久、
