all the kings of Tyre and Sidon; the kings of the coastlands across the sea;

Because of the day that is coming To destroy all the Philistines, To eliminate from Tyre and Sidon Every surviving ally; For the Lord is going to destroy the Philistines, The remnant of the coastland of Caphtor.

Now in the eleventh year, on the first of the month, the word of the Lord came to me, saying,“ Son of man, because Tyre has said in regard to Jerusalem,‘ Aha! The gateway of the peoples is broken; it has opened to me. I shall be filled, now that she is laid waste,’therefore this is what the Lord God says:‘ Behold, I am against you, Tyre, and I will bring up many nations against you, as the sea brings up its waves.They will destroy the walls of Tyre and tear down her towers; and I will sweep her debris away from her and make her a bare rock.She will become a dry place for the spreading of nets in the midst of the sea, for I have spoken,’ declares the Lord God;‘ and she will become plunder for the nations.Also her daughters who are on the mainland will be killed by the sword, and they will know that I am the Lord.’ ”For the Lord God says this:“ Behold, I am going to bring upon Tyre from the north Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, king of kings, with horses, chariots, cavalry, and a great army.He will kill your daughters on the mainland with the sword; and he will make siege walls against you, pile up an assault ramp against you, and raise up a large shield against you.And he will direct the blow of his battering rams against your walls, and he will tear down your towers with his axes.Because of the multitude of his horses, the dust raised by them will cover you; your walls will shake from the noise of cavalry, wagons, and chariots when he enters your gates as warriors enter a city that is breached.With the hoofs of his horses he will trample all your streets. He will kill your people with the sword, and your strong pillars will go down to the ground.Also they will take your riches as spoils and plunder your merchandise, tear down your walls and destroy your delightful houses, and throw your stones, your timbers, and your debris into the water.So I will put an end to the sound of your songs, and the sound of your harps will no longer be heard.I will turn you into a bare rock; you will become a dry place for the spreading of nets. You will not be rebuilt, for I the Lord have spoken,” declares the Lord God.The Lord God says this to Tyre:“ Will the coastlands not shake from the sound of your downfall when the wounded groan, when the slaughter takes place in your midst?Then all the princes of the sea will descend from their thrones, remove their robes, and strip off their colorfully woven garments. They will clothe themselves with trembling; they will sit on the ground, tremble again and again, and be appalled at you.And they will take up a song of mourning over you and say to you,‘ How you have perished, you inhabited one, From the seas, you famous city, Which was mighty on the sea, She and her inhabitants, Who imposed her terror On all her inhabitants!Now the coastlands will tremble On the day of your downfall; Yes, the coastlands which are by the sea Will be horrified at your passing.’ ”For this is what the Lord God says:“ When I make you a desolate city, like the cities which are not inhabited, when I bring up the deep over you and the great waters cover you,then I will bring you down with those who go down to the pit, to the people of old, and I will make you remain in the lower parts of the earth, like the ancient ruins, with those who go down to the pit, so that you will not be inhabited; but I will put glory in the land of the living.I will cause you sudden terrors and you will no longer exist; though you will be sought, you will never be found again,” declares the Lord God.

and send word to the king of Edom, the king of Moab, the king of the sons of Ammon, the king of Tyre, and to the king of Sidon by the messengers who come to Jerusalem to Zedekiah king of Judah.

Moreover, what are you to Me, Tyre, Sidon, and all the regions of Philistia? Are you repaying Me with retribution? But if you are showing Me retribution, swiftly and speedily I will return your retribution on your head!Since you have taken My silver and My gold, brought My precious treasures to your temples,and sold the sons of Judah and Jerusalem to the Greeks in order to remove them far from their territory,behold, I am going to stir them up from the place where you have sold them, and return your retribution on your head.I will also sell your sons and your daughters into the hand of the sons of Judah, and they will sell them to the Sabeans, to a distant nation,” for the Lord has spoken.

This is what the Lord says:“ For three offenses of Damascus, and for four, I will not revoke its punishment, Because they threshed Gilead with iron sledges.So I will send fire upon the house of Hazael, And it will consume the citadels of Ben hadad.I will also break the gate bar of Damascus, And eliminate every inhabitant from the Valley of Aven, As well as him who holds the scepter, from Beth eden; So the people of Aram will be exiled to Kir,” Says the Lord.

“ There also are the chiefs of the north, all of them, and all the Sidonians, who in spite of the terror resulting from their might, in shame went down with the slain. So they lay down uncircumcised with those killed by the sword and bore their disgrace with those who go down to the pit.

and say,‘ This is what the Lord God says:“ Behold, I am against you, Sidon, And I will appear in My glory in your midst. Then they will know that I am the Lord, when I execute judgments against her, And I will reveal Myself as holy in her.For I will send a plague to her And blood to her streets, And the wounded will fall in her midst By the sword upon her on every side; Then they will know that I am the Lord.

Hear the word of the Lord, you nations, And declare it in the coastlands far away, And say,“ He who scattered Israel will gather him, And He will keep him as a shepherd keeps his flock.”

“ Son of man, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon made his army labor hard against Tyre; every head had a bald spot and every shoulder was rubbed raw. But he and his army acquired no wages from Tyre for the labor that he had performed against it.”

This is what the Lord says:“ For three offenses of Tyre, and for four, I will not revoke its punishment, Because they turned an entire population over to Edom And did not remember the covenant of brotherhood.So I will send fire on the wall of Tyre, And it will consume her citadels.”

The pronouncement of the word of the Lord is against the land of Hadrach, with Damascus as its resting place( for the eyes of mankind, especially of all the tribes of Israel, are toward the Lord),And Hamath also, which borders on it; Tyre and Sidon, though they are very wise.For Tyre built herself a fortress, And piled up silver like dust, And gold like the mud of the streets.Behold, the Lord will dispossess her And throw her wealth into the sea; And she will be consumed with fire.

Concerning Damascus:“ Hamath and Arpad are put to shame, For they have heard bad news; They despair. There is anxiety at the sea, It cannot be calmed.Damascus has become helpless; She has turned away to flee, And panic has gripped her; Distress and labor pains have seized her Like a woman in childbirth.How the city of praise has not been deserted, The town of My joy!Therefore, her young men will fall in her streets, And all the men of war will perish on that day,” declares the Lord of armies.“ I will set fire to the wall of Damascus, And it will devour the fortified palace of Ben hadad.”
