The land is full of adulterers; because of the curse the land lies parched and the pastures in the wilderness are withered. The prophets follow an evil course and use their power unjustly.

The land is full of people who aren’t faithful to the Lord. Now the land is under his curse. And that’s why it is thirsty for water. That’s why the desert grasslands are dry. The prophets are leading sinful lives. They don’t use their power in the right way.

願我於野得有旅邸、則可離我民而去、以彼俱為淫亂之徒、詭詐之黨、

我為山嶽哭泣號咷、為曠野之草場悲哀、因其焚燬、無人經之、不聞牲畜之聲、飛禽走獸、俱已逃亡、

我何能宥爾哉、爾之子女棄我、指彼非神者而誓、我使之飽食、彼則行淫、羣集妓室、彼若肥馬得縱、各向其鄰之妻嘶鳴、

我必蒞臨、行鞫於爾、凡巫覡及淫亂妄誓、負傭值、欺孤寡、屈賓旅、而不畏我者、我必亟證之、萬軍之耶和華言之矣、

爾中有毀謗者、流人之血、有人食於山、行淫亂、烝父繼室、辱因天癸而污之婦、有行可憎於鄰妻、有穢亂子婦、有玷辱異母之姊妹、

故地亡於咒詛、處其上者干咎、居民被燬、所餘無幾、

攘竊殺戮、行淫妄誓、焚香於巴力、從事素所未識之他神、

夫形軀之行顯著、即淫亂、污穢、邪侈、拜像、巫術、結仇、爭鬥、忌恨、忿怒、釁隙、朋黨、異端、媢嫉、沉湎、荒宴等類、今我告爾、如昔所言、凡行此者、必不承上帝國、

豈不知不義者不得承上帝國乎、毋受惑、凡淫亂、拜像、行姦、為孌童、比頑童、竊盜、貪婪、沉湎、詬詈、苛索者、皆不得承上帝國也、

曰、猶大悲哀、邑門衰敗、眾衣墨絰、而坐於地、耶路撒冷號咷、升聞於上、

耶和華歟、爾知我、爾見我、試我向爾之心、惟彼惡人、當曳之出、如將宰之羊、別之以待殺期、斯土悲哀、四境草木枯槁、伊於胡底、因其居民行惡、禽獸盡滅、眾猶自謂、我之終局、彼必不及見之、○

彼於夜間痛哭、流涕盈腮兮、愛者雖多、無人慰藉兮、良朋欺之、成為仇敵兮、猶大因遭難及服役之勞、遷徙異地兮、居於列邦、不得綏安兮、迫者追之、及於狹處兮、郇途愁慘、無人赴大會兮、邑門寂寞、祭司歎息兮、處女遘難、居民罹苦兮、

淫亂、比頑童、拐人口、誑言、背誓、及一切違逆正教者、

田畝荒蕪、土地愁慘、蓋五穀已毀、新酒已罄、新油已匱、

彼曰、此乃呪詛、遍行斯土、凡盜竊者、必按卷此面之文而見絕、凡妄誓者、必按卷彼面之文而見絕、萬軍之耶和華曰、我出此卷、使入盜賊之室、與指我名而妄誓者之室、恆處其中、而毀滅之、爰及木石、○

淫亂者乎、爾豈不知友於世、乃敵上帝乎、凡欲為世之友者、自為上帝敵也、

爾眾宜重婚姻、勿玷牀笫、蓋苟合行淫者、上帝必鞫之、
