For this is what the Lord says concerning the house of the king of Judah:“ You are like Gilead to Me, Like the summit of Lebanon; Yet most assuredly I will make you a wilderness, Cities that are not inhabited.

For this is what the Lord says about the palace of the king of Judah:“ Though you are like Gilead to me, like the summit of Lebanon, I will surely make you like a wasteland, like towns not inhabited.

The Lord speaks about the palace of the king of Judah. He says,“ You are like the land of Gilead to me. You are like the highest mountain in Lebanon. But I will make you like a desert. You will become like towns that no one lives in.

For thus says the Lord concerning the house of the king of Judah:“‘ You are like Gilead to me, like the summit of Lebanon, yet surely I will make you a desert, an uninhabited city.

Now this is what the Lord says concerning Judah’s royal palace:“ I love you as much as fruitful Gilead and the green forests of Lebanon. But I will turn you into a desert, with no one living within your walls.

For this is what the LORD says concerning the house of the king of Judah:“ You are like Gilead to me, or the summit of Lebanon, but I will certainly turn you into a wilderness, uninhabited cities.

For thus says the Lord to the house of the king of Judah:“ You are Gilead to Me, The head of Lebanon; Yet I surely will make you a wilderness, Cities which are not inhabited.

For thus saith Jehovah concerning the house of the king of Judah: Thou art Gilead unto me, and the head of Lebanon; yet surely I will make thee a wilderness, and cities which are not inhabited.

For this is what the Lord says concerning the house of the king of Judah: You are like Gilead to Me, or the summit of Lebanon, but I will certainly turn you into a wilderness, uninhabited cities.

For thus saith the LORD unto the king’s house of Judah; Thou[ art] Gilead unto me,[ and] the head of Lebanon:[ yet] surely I will make thee a wilderness,[ and] cities[ which] are not inhabited.

“‘ For the LORD says concerning the palace of the king of Judah,“ This place looks like a veritable forest of Gilead to me. It is like the wooded heights of Lebanon in my eyes. But I swear that I will make it like a wilderness whose towns have all been deserted.

For Yahweh says concerning the house of the king of Judah:“ You are Gilead to me, the head of Lebanon. Yet surely I will make you a wilderness, cities which are not inhabited.

Then I said,“ Lord, how long?” And He answered,“ Until cities are devastated and without inhabitant, Houses are without people And the land is utterly desolate,

And a fruitful land into a salt waste, Because of the wickedness of those who dwell in it.

Therefore on account of you, Zion will be plowed like a field, Jerusalem will become a heap of ruins, And the mountain of the temple will become high places of a forest.

For the fortified city is isolated, A homestead deserted and abandoned like the desert; There the calf will graze, And there it will lie down and feed on its branches.

Then I will eliminate from the cities of Judah and from the streets of Jerusalem the voice of joy and the voice of gladness, the voice of the groom and the voice of the bride; for the land will become a site of ruins.

I will make Jerusalem a heap of ruins, A haunt of jackals; And I will make the cities of Judah a desolation without inhabitant.”

“ Micah of Moresheth used to prophesy in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah; and he spoke to all the people of Judah, saying,‘ This is what the Lord of armies has said:“ Zion will be plowed like a field, And Jerusalem will become heaps of ruins, And the mountain of the house like the high places of a forest.” ’

Then they sat down to eat a meal. But as they raised their eyes and looked, behold, a caravan of Ishmaelites was coming from Gilead, with their camels carrying labdanum resin, balsam, and myrrh, on their way to bring them down to Egypt.

Please let me cross over and see the good land that is beyond the Jordan, that good hill country, and Lebanon.’

then I will make this house like Shiloh, and I will make this city a curse to all the nations of the earth.” ’ ”The priests and the prophets and all the people heard Jeremiah speaking these words in the house of the Lord.Yet when Jeremiah finished speaking everything that the Lord had commanded him to speak to all the people, then the priests and the prophets and all the people seized him, saying,“ You must die!Why have you prophesied in the name of the Lord, saying,‘ This house will be like Shiloh and this city will be in ruins, without inhabitant’?” And all the people gathered to Jeremiah at the house of the Lord.

But I will punish you according to the results of your deeds,” declares the Lord,“ And I will kindle a fire in its forest So that it may devour all its surroundings.” ’ ”

You shall say this to them:‘ This is what the Lord God says:“ As I live, those who are in the places of ruins certainly will fall by the sword, and whoever is in the open field I will give to the animals to be devoured, and those who are in the strongholds and in the caves will die of plague.And I will make the land a desolation and a waste, and the pride of her power will be brought to an end; and the mountains of Israel will be deserted so that no one will pass through.

behold, I will send and take all the families of the north,’ declares the Lord,‘ and I will send to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, My servant, and will bring them against this land and against its inhabitants and against all these surrounding nations; and I will completely destroy them and make them an object of horror and hissing, and an everlasting place of ruins.Moreover, I will eliminate from them the voice of jubilation and the voice of joy, the voice of the groom and the voice of the bride, the sound of the millstones and the light of the lamp.

Disaster upon disaster is proclaimed, For the whole land is devastated; Suddenly my tents are devastated, And my curtains in an instant.

“ As I live,” declares the Lord,“ even if Coniah the son of Jehoiakim king of Judah were a signet ring on My right hand, yet I would pull you off;

Behold, the Lord lays the earth waste, devastates it, twists its surface, and scatters its inhabitants.And the people will be like the priest, the servant like his master, the female servant like her mistress, the buyer like the seller, the lender like the borrower, the creditor like the debtor.The earth will be completely laid waste and completely plundered, for the Lord has spoken this word.The earth dries up and crumbles away, the mainland dries out and crumbles away, the exalted of the people of the earth dwindle.The earth is also defiled by its inhabitants, for they violated laws, altered statutes, and broke the everlasting covenant.Therefore, a curse devours the earth, and those who live on it suffer for their guilt. Therefore, the inhabitants of the earth decrease in number, and few people are left.

His thighs are pillars of alabaster Set on pedestals of pure gold; His appearance is like Lebanon, Choice as the cedars.

“ Then say to the household of the king of Judah,‘ Hear the word of the Lord,

And I will frustrate the planning of Judah and Jerusalem in this place, and I will make them fall by the sword before their enemies and by the hand of those who seek their life; and I will make their carcasses food for the birds of the sky and the animals of the earth.I will also turn this city into an object of horror and hissing; everyone who passes by it will be appalled and hiss because of all its disasters.
