But if you will not obey these words, I swear by Myself,” declares the Lord,“ that this house will become a place of ruins.” ’ ”

但你們若不聽這些話，永恆主發神諭說，我指着自己來起誓，這王宮必變為荒廢之處。

如爾不聽斯言、耶和華曰、我指己而誓、此室必為荒蕪、

如爾不聽、我耶和華指己而誓、此殿必致荒蕪。

如爾不聽斯言、主曰、我指己而誓、此殿必致荒蕪、

But if you do not obey these commands, declares the Lord, I swear by myself that this palace will become a ruin.’”

But suppose you do not obey these commands,” announces the Lord.“ Then I promise you that this palace will be destroyed. You can be as sure of this promise as you are sure that I live.” ’ ”

But if you will not obey these words, I swear by myself, declares the Lord, that this house shall become a desolation.

But if you refuse to pay attention to this warning, I swear by my own name, says the Lord, that this palace will become a pile of rubble.’”

But if you do not obey these words, then I swear by myself— this is the LORD’s declaration— that this house will become a ruin.’”

The Lord God has sworn by Himself, the Lord God of armies has declared:“ I loathe the arrogance of Jacob, And detest his citadels; Therefore I will give up the city and all it contains.”

For when God made the promise to Abraham, since He could swear an oath by no one greater, He swore by Himself,

and said,“ By Myself I have sworn, declares the Lord, because you have done this thing and have not withheld your son, your only son,

But if you do not listen to Me, to keep the Sabbath day holy by not carrying a load and coming in through the gates of Jerusalem on the Sabbath day, then I will set fire to its gates, and it will devour the palaces of Jerusalem and not go out.” ’ ”

Indeed, I raise My hand to heaven, And say, as I live forever,If I have sharpened My flashing sword, And My hand has taken hold of justice, I will return vengeance on My adversaries, And I will repay those who hate Me.I will make My arrows drunk with blood, And My sword will devour flesh, With the blood of the slain and the captives, From the long haired leaders of the enemy.’

In the same way God, desiring even more to demonstrate to the heirs of the promise the fact that His purpose is unchangeable, confirmed it with an oath,

And now, because you have done all these things,” declares the Lord,“ and I spoke to you, speaking again and again, but you did not listen, and I called you but you did not answer,therefore I will do to the house which is called by My name, in which you trust, and to the place which I gave you and your fathers, just as I did to Shiloh.

The Lord has sworn by the pride of Jacob,“ Indeed, I will never forget any of their deeds.Because of this will the land not quake, And everyone who lives in it mourn? Indeed, all of it will rise up like the Nile, And it will be tossed about And subside like the Nile of Egypt.

The Chaldeans also burned the king’s palace and the houses of the people with fire, and they tore down the walls of Jerusalem.

And they will say,‘ Because they abandoned the Lord, the God of their fathers, who brought them from the land of Egypt, and they adopted other gods, and worshiped and served them; therefore He has brought all this adversity on them.’ ”

Therefore on account of you, Zion will be plowed like a field, Jerusalem will become a heap of ruins, And the mountain of the temple will become high places of a forest.

“ But if you turn away and abandon My statutes and My commandments which I have set before you, and go and serve other gods and worship them,

then I will make this house like Shiloh, and I will make this city a curse to all the nations of the earth.” ’ ”The priests and the prophets and all the people heard Jeremiah speaking these words in the house of the Lord.Yet when Jeremiah finished speaking everything that the Lord had commanded him to speak to all the people, then the priests and the prophets and all the people seized him, saying,“ You must die!Why have you prophesied in the name of the Lord, saying,‘ This house will be like Shiloh and this city will be in ruins, without inhabitant’?” And all the people gathered to Jeremiah at the house of the Lord.

Say to them,‘ As I live,’ declares the Lord,‘ just as you have spoken in My hearing, so I will do to you;your dead bodies will fall in this wilderness, all your numbered men according to your complete number from twenty years old and upward, who have grumbled against Me.By no means will you come into the land where I swore to settle you, except for Caleb the son of Jephunneh and Joshua the son of Nun.

Therefore I swore in My anger, They certainly shall not enter My rest.”

But if you refuse and rebel, You will be devoured by the sword.” For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.

And to whom did He swear that they would not enter His rest, but to those who were disobedient?
