他們又用鈎子鈎住牠，把牠放入籠中，帶到巴比倫王那裏，把牠押進城堡，以色列山上就不再聽見牠的聲音。你的母親如葡萄樹，在葡萄園中，栽於水邊，因為水多，就多結果子，多生枝子；它長出堅固的枝幹，可作統治者的權杖。這枝幹高舉在茂密的樹枝中，可見樹身高大，枝子繁多。但在烈怒中它被拔出，摔在地上；東風吹乾其果子，那堅固的枝幹因折斷而枯乾，被火燒燬；如今這葡萄樹移植於曠野，在乾旱無水之地，火從枝幹中發出，燒滅它的枝條和它的果子，以致不再有堅固的枝幹，可作統治者的權杖。這是哀傷之歌，成為一首哀歌。
